Do you sell paintings wired and ready to hang?

Up to now, I've sold original acrylic paintings on stretched canvas without hanging hardware, figuring that people might have their own hanging system preferences, which might not be the same as mine, but I'm considering including it to make my paintings more convenient for buyers (and hopefully improve sales).

I'm wondering what others do. If you include hanging hardware of some sort on your stretched canvas art, do you use wire, D-ring hangers, or something else? Any idea if it makes a difference in terms of sales what type of hanging hardware you use, or if you don't include any at all?

Thanks!

Anything larger than 8x10 I wire... I use D-ring hangers only if it is large (24x36 up) and heavy duty canvas. It only takes a couple minutes to do and I really think it has helped my sales. Anything that is stretched canvas, smaller than 8x10, I mount using a sawtooth hanger.

I offer it in my listings but don't do it unless requested. I figured if they would have it professionally framed they wouldn't need the wire so I just leave it an option. I'm going to use the new listing options when I get around to it. That way a buyer can choose it right when they purchase something without having to ask and wait for a reply.

Re: Do you sell paintings wired and ready to hang?

Great question. I just had a customer purchase a painting she had framed as to how to hang? There are plenty of options as we are aware. Fellow Artisan's , here we go again with one more job and added cost factor. All of these little customer perks add up don't they? I'm with Jennifer in giving the option to the buyer. I offer the option for my commissioned artworks usually because of the weight.
I have just begun adding a little strip of paper with caring instructions for my paintings. After questions concerning UVA varnish and yellowing to do so oor not???I thought this informative.

I like to put hanging wire on larger then 8x10 inches also
If you canvas isn't thick and heavy and smaller they can hang with a metal push pin.

Re: Do you sell paintings wired and ready to hang?

I would like people to have my paintings professionally framed. I don't like the modern look of unframed artwork displayed on walls and therefore I don't wire any of them. Any painting looks better framed!

I prefer the framed look also. Just looks so much better.

I never sell anything without having it professionally framed. The customer can change it later if they choose, but I think it's important to present your work in a professional manner if you want to be taken seriously.

Re: Do you sell paintings wired and ready to hang?

Hmmm I have pondered this very question many times.

This is how I see it. If you frame the picture it is convenient for the customer to just grab & hang. However, if you have a person that likes to coordinate things in the home the frame (your frame) may not fit in.
I think...
still thinking....
Sorry I just got writers block
Frames are not cheep, and if they are just going to chuck it anyway?
Any serious buyer of art will want to have it professionally framed as they choose.
If you don't mind the added expense, as said above, offer the "option of frame, wires or whatever.
My painting are not edge finished I let people know that they would do well to have them framed.

Re: Do you sell paintings wired and ready to hang?

I mostly paint on Gallery wrap canvas or artist panels
I agree they may not like the frame and then the shipping cost will also increase

Re: Do you sell paintings wired and ready to hang?

I haven't had anyone buy paintings from me yet (only 2 listed so far). I do watercolor, which needs to framed and matted eventually. The frames are an emormous cost and then add considerable weight in terms of shipping.

Some of my paintings are already framed, I'm debating about offering them unframed (one cost) and framed, at higher cost. So far it is a moot question.

Re: Do you sell paintings wired and ready to hang?

I apply a sawtoothed hanger on all of my paintings. If they are going to hang without a frame then this is fine. If they end up and want to have it framed then the sawtoothed hanger really doesn't get in the way of that.
