Let's get some ideas
Maybe it would be good to keep our paintings of a single item (animal, flower, tree etc.) or still life of no more then 3 items.
It will be fun to see how different our paintings will be
I mentioned about painting a single rose......I have photos of single rose buds and will choose one to send to everyone if a rose is chosen. If your idea is chosen by the participants then you must send the photo to all of us.
So I'll start the suggestions and if you like the idea then add your vote to the number in the ( ).

I'm thinking we can start our challenge the first of the year. Maybe we can get more people interested.
What do you think? Some people are taking care of commissions or are just too busy.
But if any of you are up to doing a rose bud challenge with me let me know. Being a little selfish. Since I got back from vacation haven't been too motivated to paint. If you would like us to paint something else that is good for me too. Please just keep it a little still life with no more then 3 items. A fun relaxing painting.

I'm here! Sorry, Lately my world has been a cluster. I'm being pulled in way too many directions right now, I LOVE the idea of a challenge, I never could turn down a dare, I'm just not sure that I can participate fully like I would want to.

Reading all the responses is making me smile. Very intriqueing (sp?). It also is evident on what others LIKE to paint. LOL.
Come on Peeps! It's supposed to be a Challenge! Not something you are already proficient at!!

Of course, you never know... I could suddenly be inspired to paint a single rose bud. (grin) maybe even a-la O'Keefe.

Donnarose, I immediately set the challenge into motion the other evening and failed. Count me in like Errol Flynn said. Can't promise an end result other than the end of a lighted match! Hence the Challenge, correct? Hah ~ and I didn't find it relaxing. (grins) It has been a long time since I did a realistic photographic image of a rose. Definitely left my comfort zone.

Trish, what would have been your choice? Choosing the Challenge Choice?
It is only natural when you tell someone to draw something they will draw what they feel most comfortable and confident. Memories of my sister being asked to play something on the piano. Forever her choice: The Battle Hymn of the Republic. Because this was the only song she mastered and would be praised for. (oops ~ which reminds me this is "public" convo telling private tales.)

Inspiration of reference to O'Keeffe is of a similar challenge of my first semester in college on a 48x60 handmade stretched canvas with handmade view finder in hand to each individual's choice of subject matter. My STAR FISH study ended up being something from
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea! Wish I hadn't pitched that canvas when we moved and repurposed it!

Back to the Rose with No Name. :)

OK....... Donna Rose, count me in for the single rose bud. Surely, I can have something completed by Nov. 23. I'm assuming that our challenge piece will need to be listed for sale in our shops?
Sheri, I would definitely choose #2 or #3 out of the list. I guess it's ok to do the rose bud ala O'Keefe? I most certainly would NOT choose #5 a moving dog! Yikes. I remember the Challenge Thread that I started on here months ago, and I was challenged to paint a "pack of wolves"... it was laughable.

Sheri, I would not want you to paint in photo realistic... do the rose in your wonderful abstract style!

Hope everyone doesn't think I'm living with only half a brain.... but, Yes, I am confused.
And, I don't know how to copy the entire post when I repost. I've lived my whole life on a "need to know" fly by the seat of my pants kind of way... and apparently I never needed to know how to do that.
Anyone willing to educate.. I will try to retain it. :)
