New resources for Etsy shop owners: Creating safer children’s products

Ensuring your products are safe for consumers is especially important when you sell items designed for children. To help Etsy sellers learn more about safe design practices we’ve partnered with Kids in Danger (KID) to bring you education and resources created for small business owners like you.

What’s KID?

KID is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting children by advocating for product safety. For the past 20 years, KID has been advocating for stronger consumer protection and working with product designers to help them create safer products for children.

Available resources

  • KID Design Safety Toolkit: KID has created a video course designed specifically for small business owners. The lessons go in-depth on designing and creating products for children. You can test your knowledge along the way through interactive quizzes. The whole course takes about three hours to complete, but you can stop along the way to take it at your own pace. It’s currently available in English. Check it out here.
  • Etsy’s Best Practices for Safe and Compliant Products: We’ve put the information and resources you need to better understand safe product design and comply with applicable regulations in one place. Our guide covers many kinds of products and is organized to help you find the articles that are most relevant to the products you sell. The following article are focused on products designed for children:
