We understand that German sellers need to include specific information in their shop policies because of specific legal requirements in Germany.
Today we’re adding a new functionality to the policy templates, for German sellers to insert certain additional information, as required by German law. We are confident that this will enable German sellers to be compliant with these specific German legal requirements.
The additional information included by German sellers will be displayed only to German buyers because the requirement to display this information is specific to Germany. The information provided in the Etsy Simple Shop Policies is sufficient in practice in other EU countries.
In research, we found that the majority of sellers, especially sellers based in Germany, have no shop policies at all. We have developed templated policies to help sellers quickly and easily create policies and to help enable them to be legally compliant.
