Announcing the new Direct Checkout: Etsy Payments

Jump to solution
Starting today, Direct Checkout has a new look and a new name. Etsy Payments allows you to accept multiple payment methods, including credit and debit cards, PayPal, and gift cards. It’s also more flexible, stable, and secure than ever.

Because we want buyers to have a consistent experience when they check out on Etsy, we’re requiring that all sellers in eligible countries set up Etsy Payments by May 17, 2017. If you don’t set up Etsy Payments, your selling privileges will be suspended on May 18.

If you’re already using Etsy’s payments platform, there’s nothing you need to do. If you only accept payments through PayPal or manual payment methods, you’ll need to set up Etsy Payments by connecting your bank account and verifying your identity. If you currently have standalone PayPal in your shop, you can still choose to keep your PayPal sales separate.

Keep an eye out for an email detailing what this means for your shop. Or visit our information hub to learn more about Etsy Payments here: https://www.etsy.com/payments

Beginning today, we are suspending sellers’ listings if they haven’t added Etsy Payments. With thousands of sellers and listings to suspend, it may take our system a few days to process. If you see that your listings are suspended and you believe that they shouldn’t be, please contact us as soon as possible: www.etsy.com/help/contact

In April, Etsy introduced Etsy Payments, formerly known as Direct Checkout, and we are requiring that you set it up in your shop. We’ve heard your feedback, and we’re giving you two more weeks to set up Etsy Payments.

If you’re in an eligible country and don’t set up Etsy Payments by May 31, 2017, your selling privileges will be suspended and you’ll no longer be able to list new items and your listings will no longer be visible to buyers.

Visit our information hub to learn more about Etsy Payments here: https://www.etsy.com/payments or in our Help article here: https://www.etsy.com/help/article/107783044270

One final reminder that if you’re in an eligible country and don’t set up Etsy Payments by the end of the day today, May 31, your listings will no longer be visible to buyers and you won’t be able to make sales. You can still access your shop, listing information, and Conversations, and you can still make purchases on Etsy as a buyer.

You can re-activate your shop at any time by setting up Etsy Payments.
