I got to sleep in this morning which is awesome! First day of summer vaca for my kid and I am off from the "day job".

Hey Tara, saw you in my activity feed, thanks! haven't had time to check out too many of the teamies, just favoriting the threads.

Kinda overcast here in the NW and hoping it will burn off for another beautiful day.

so, what am I doing? wasting time on the computer instead of exercising or folding clothes!
I get to sit at my daughters French teachers house for 2 hours today because my daughter basically flunked her French final and the teacher is nice enough to let the kids have a second crack at it if they want, EK doesn't want, but mom wants so off we go. She isn't pleased with me.
And just to clarify, we are a homeschooling family, so this was a homeschool co-op class, not public! It takes two homeschool years for us to do one year of public school language because they meet only once a week. This means this years C was added to last years A to make a B for her French, but I know she is better than that, so we will see if we can get her to up it a bit.

So! that is what this toy fanatic is doing, how about the rest of you?

I hope the French final goes better on the second round =D raising kids is not for the faint of heart, that is for sure. my son is going on 14 and it is never dull. have you home schooled yours from the start?

Started when oldest was 5, but then used a co-op public grade school, then pulled them out in 6th and 2nd. He is in college, she just finished 10th. Long journey, almost done. She tested into Running Start, which is a state run program for high schooler to attend community college. So, I am pretty off the hook for her schooling now. Weird place to be after all these years.

Congratulations Chris! When you say you advertise locally, what does that mean? I am super curious. I am fortunate to sell to friends from time to time via facebook and I sell things on consignment....share your knowledge vintage virtuoso!

Tara it is, and I think I am ready for it!

By the way, from a 52 to a 95%! Yeah! she bumped up her this year grade to a B and the over all grade to a low A!!

Question: how can you use social media for your marketing. This is from a total Noob who only has a tumblr to have fun with sending out photos and sharing vintage stuff I don't want to sell! I think I might have a google+, and I accidentally signed up for that one business one but can't get back on to it to quit or anything else.

social media is useful to spread exposure. I use pinterest and facebook mostly. I have been toying with the idea of setting up a tumblr account as a sort of blog about my adventures in vintage....basically it is a way to spread the word...when a friend "likes" your items on facebook, it then shows in their feed and exposes you to people you do not know. I also use my facebook as a place to do "presales" where I offer nearly 50% to friends on items before I post them to etsy. this will often result in cash-in-hand and I do not have to pay all the fees (hence the ability to offer cheaper pricing)

I also learned on the AAA support team that pinterest is one of the fast growing sites on the web to advertise web commerce. it is also kind of fun. you can check out my page here

eventually I will add a board for our toy team to my pinterest! I hope this helps a little.

Another team I am on is suggesting that Google+ would be a good place to build. I already had one because of something to do with Girl SCouts, so I think I might try that.

I don't use my Tumblr well, mostly for fun. Should try to be more diligent, but then I want this all to be fun and not work. It is extra money, not my income, so I want to keep it light!

I posted quite a few items today! hit 100 listings, it has been at least a year since I have had my listings in the triple digits....have a look, if ya feel like it!
