Introducing myself!

Hi!

I am pretty new to Etsy and teams. I joined the Etsy Success team to learn how to get my shop off the ground. Wow. What a help it's been! Now that my shop is up and running, I decided to see what other teams are out there and this is the one that, when I read the description, I decided I just HAD to join!

Yep. I'm different...er alternative. ;) I have spent the last 15 years and especially the last 5 tearing down all of the "shoulds" in my world. Regarding my Etsy shop, the "should" I tore down is the "art should look like...." wall. Once I embraced creating with fabric as an art form, I was mentally free to just go for it and be proud of my creativity not worrying about how anyone else perceived it. Since doing that, I have been blown away by the positive response I've had!

Let's see....what else can I tell you about myself?
- I unschool our 3 kids
- I love living in the desert (near Phoenix, AZ)
- I know I should read, but I'd rather play on my iPad
- I love to sew and knit
- I hate to cook
- I live a simple life

Hi Melissa! so nice to meet you! Your dolls are adorable! They remind me of dolls that we had as kids in Austria!

You unschool! I so admire you for that! I tried that with my two, and I just was to insecure to continue. So I just started doing more book work with them this year.

and yes, tearing down the shoulds and thinking outside of the box, is very liberating and eye opening.

I haven't done much with this team unfortunately, I'm involved in BNS a lot, and they take up a lot of my online time.

Thanks for the reply, Karin! After I posted I noticed that the team doesn't seem super active.

I go through times of anxiety with my kids and unschooling. But, I always remind myself that they will learn best when they are pursuing their interests.

I think I may check out a BNS after the new year.

I'm glad you like my dolls. I really love creating them.

This summer just gone, I was nearly, nearly unschooled. I wish I was! Have you heard of autonomous learning?

Hi everyone. My husband and I just opened a shop. My name is Janel.

So excited to see someone else that unschools!!! We still do some traditional schooling, but not much anymore. Our three boys are gifted so they come to us on a daily basis for their exploration and growth.

So is that what we are alternative...LOL I just call us weird! People always look at me even more strangely when I say that, personally I believe it is because that's exactly what they were thinking. HAHA!!! I embrace it.

I am also the current Mrs. Lakeshore-America and I am doing my best to promote homeschooling/unschooling and the philanthropies that I work with.
