Happy St. Patrick's Day.

Do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day? Maybe you are eating corned beef and cabbage or wearing green? I think it is a fun day, but don't do anything anymore. Tell us if you celebrate or not.

Just going to have fun today. Let's do a little shameless self promotion by posting a green item from your shop. Please fave the five above you, as in all our games. If you would like to post a green item from a team mate, that is okay too. Fun quote and facts are also welcome.

St. Patrick's Day Fact:

"Dyeing the river green: The practice of dyeing the river green started in Chicago in 1962, when city officials decided to dye a portion of the Chicago River green."

Good morning Mary and all!

Happy St Patrick's Day! There isn't much going on around here, as this is pretty much a British community, but in London of course it's a different matter (and other major cities too for that matter). I think I only went out a couple of times for the occasion, Paul and I (and he was half Irish!) have never been keen on rowdy crowds. Still, it'd be nice to see the same sort of celebrations going on on 23/4 for St George's Day, the patron saint of England, but alas, I doubt that it will ever happen.

This is my green item, not quite a shamrock LOL, but still some sort of a leaf

Re: AAA Daily Chat March 17. 2015

Good morning, everyone!

Well, tha was annoying. I was just about ready to post when my Kindle decided, all by itself, to reboot. Very annoying.

I usually don't celebrate St. Patrick's day. Fom a pagan point of view -- well, let's just say St. Patick wasn't too fond of pagans. It's said he drove all the snakes out of Ireland. Snakes in this case refer to pagans, because we consider the snake to be a sacred ceature. I do, however, have some shamrocks in my store:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/176986410/luck-o-the-irish-tote-bag-customizable?ref=shop_home_active_2...
I emboidered all six Hindu deities yesterday: Bahma, Durga, Ganesha, Lakshmi, Shiva, and Vishnu. They went vey quickly, since they were outlines and only one color. Today I start on five crosses, which will be good for Easter. Then it's on to the ancient Greek gods and goddesses.

That's it for me. Hope everyone has a fabulous day!

Re: AAA Daily Chat March 17. 2015

Good morning team mates and Happy St. Paddys day!

I have no Irish in me and neither does my husband, but I will be wearing a green shirt here shortly once I get out of my PJs :) I am not a fan of beer (green or not) and corned beef is not on my list of edible things haha, so I pass on these traditions. Of course here in the US with a large population of irish Americans, celebrations abound. All major cities have something going on. Here, they are blocking a corner in downtown where some restaurants are catering a party. I won't be going myself. To me personally, this holiday is associated with a very busy night at the emergency room as people drink too much and make foolish choices. Next to the Fourth of July and New Years Eve, this is another busy holiday for hospitals. So people, please have fun responsibly! Have a designated driver or call a cab, please don't drink and drive, I don't want to see you in the emergency room tonight.

Here is a green pouch :)

Re: AAA Daily Chat March 17. 2015

Good morning everyone -

I also do not celebrate St. Patrick's Day either. But, for those that do Happy St. Patty's Day!

I have been quite busy with my sign line and trying to finish ones out so I can soon get new photos of them. Today though it is very windy and back to being cold again here only in the 40's. Hopefully though by the weekend I can start to get new photos and get them placed in my shop.

Here is a green item from my shop:

Re: AAA Daily Chat March 17. 2015

As some of you may know, my daughter is expecting her second child in August. My Grandson (Jovanni) is excited to become a big brother. He carries the ultrasound picture with him and says this is his baby brother. One day I asked him what he was going to name is baby brother. His reply "Monkey". My daughter had another ultrasound and found out it is a girl. I sat down with Jovanni and asked him what he will name his baby sister. He thought hard placing a finger on his bottom lip and looking up in the sky for the answer. Then he smiled at me and said "Circle." I love my little man.

Re: AAA Daily Chat March 17. 2015

Wise words, Candi - hope they are heeded by those of us heading off for an Irish party later today. I'm half Scottish, but was married to a quarter-Irish Man and even then, we didn't really do St. Patrick's Day in the way it's become the norm these days. When the girls were at school in Canada, just to keep up, they always insisted on wearing something green, but green cooking (other than of the natural veggie variety) was not expected (or allowed!). As it happens, I was given a green background scarf by Philippa for Mother's Day, and a Shamrock brooch by Clare, so they were obviously buying with St. Patrick's day in mind: and I do happen to be wearing green cords and a green top today!! The latter wasn't entirely planned!!

Thanks Mary for the links. Especially about the new payment options. Did join up with Direct Check out last year, and am beginning to see some benefits. Still prefer the PayPal route myself.

Off now to do my other Etsy duties. Have a great day, even if you aren't Irish.

Re: AAA Daily Chat March 17. 2015

Good Afternoon all,

It is cooler here today too. We hit 84 yesterday which is way above normal but it was nice!!

St. Patrick's Day is one of my favorite holidays. I have a lot of Irish heritage from both my mom and dad so it is a day I've always liked to celebrate! I really enjoy a bit of green eggs and ham and always try and catch a bagpipe performance! From my Day By Day with the Irish:
It's a day for wearin' a shamrock
To honor that glorious saint!
It's a day when folks who are Irish
Feel sorry for those who ain't! -WDK

Re: AAA Daily Chat March 17. 2015

Hi, everyone. Welcome new members.
Happy green day. A chance comment by a woman I knew 35 years ago, on St. Patrick's day provoked my reading up on the history of the church. The Chalice and the Blade was a great book. I learned so much.
I was under the impression that St. Patrick's Day isn't celebrated so much in Ireland as much as it is in the u.s. For adults, it seems to be largely a libations evening. I'm going to celebrate spring and pass on the hangover causers. For me, the older the liver, the more fast a hangover giver.

Happy St. Patricks Day!
https://www.etsy.com/listing/221222990/chunky-green-bracelet-freshwater-pearl?ref=shop_home_feat_3

We had our St. Patricks Day fun last Saturday. My husband and I took the kids to the annual parade. It's just another normal day around here. Other than wearing a little green.....

Cherry that's such a cute story!!

I'm working on new pieces and trying to clean up my work bench. I've seemed to misplace a bag of headpins and it's driving me crazy!! I hope I find them soon.... : /

Have a great day!!

Happy St. Pat's. I don't celebrate it anymore but used to try to remember to wear something green when I worked. Boston, where I grew up, was a largely Irish American city. So the whole city celebrated.

Best of luck, Chris.

Re: AAA Daily Chat March 17. 2015

I agree, St. Patrick's Day is more popular in the US and Canada than in Ireland. Seems when the Irish immigrated to the US, they wanted to celebrate something and so that's what made this day so popular.

Yes, Candi, many drunks on the road tonight. DUI in Ontario has risen in the last few years. We need tougher penalties. I know an older man who was charged 10 times and then they sent him to jail for 6 months. That's a joke.

Enjoy celebrations, but remember, your life can change in an instant if you drink and drive.
