Sunday, and today is Father's Day here in the UK, not sure if it's the same in other countries, in any case Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there anywhere in the world :) I'll be going to open up shop, hopefully there will be somebody around despite the unfavourable weather.

Mary, the email that we have been discussing and that we have received from Etsy was about the new EU directives on distance selling regulations, I don't know if it's something that only EU sellers have received or if it went out to everybody, if you haven't got it then it's probably just gone to EU sellers.

Here in Spain we do not celebrate today Father's Day, here it's on March the 19th, so I wish a Happy Day to all the father's.

I haven't received any email on it either and as far as I know, I live in EU :)

Wonderful weather today! There is a military exam going on in my city so all the graduates have to show that they can operate helicopters, planes, boats and so on. Kind of cool to see how good they are with the helicopters :)

Now it almost doesn't get dark during the night. You can clearly see outside at midnigt without any lights even tho the sun is technically down. We are at the peek right now, in about a week it will start to get darker again :(

Yes, it is Father's day here in the U.S. too so Happy Father's day to all the wonderful dads out there, I am lucky enough to have one of them.

I have been working on getting my sales and use tax ID and business license and had to spend close to 3 hours yesterday setting up the taxes so that Floridians in different counties can pay the correct sales tax upon checkout. Phew! Florida always complicates things lol. Now if I can get one FL sale, I'd at least feel that the effort was worth it haha.

I know this topic may have come up before, but yesterday was a great review day for me, and I received three wonderful reviews and with each one I wanted to send a message to the buyer and thank them and tell them how excited I was that they were happy but I curbed my enthusiasm and refrained from bothering them. Is it really spam to express your gratitude to a buyer that took time out of their busy lives to leave your shop a review? I feel conflicted about this lol. Any thoughts?

Very grizzly and grey here too which is a pity because hubby and I are going to an archery shoot on the lawns at Kedleston Hall in Derbyshire, looks as if it might be a bit of a damp day.

Like Nuria I've had no email from Etsy re the EU distance selling regulations.

Candi - if you just say thanks for the review, and not actually sound as if you're looking out for more sales, there's no problem! It is after all, just good manners to thank folks for a good Review. I do it - when I get a sale and a good review.

That EU directive some of you have had (I haven't, or if I did get it, I missed it) is probably directed at the UK Etsians. It may be because it's affecting UK folks for the first time, but could also be because Etsy has opened up its own UK office (and are advertising on TV and national media for the first time) and they're using the directive as a means to justify the cost to them!!!
It will be interesting to see if their official arrival here, over and above their previous existence in Europe, has any major impact on UK Etsy successes.

Have decided to stop shilly-shallying about and cum Monday will be taking the next step in my project moved northwards. Will be contacting the Housing Complex manager to ask for the inevitable paperwork: the sooner it gets started, the sooner the major impending upheaval will be over.

May mean, though, I shall not be around quite as regularly as I try to be normally.

Good morning, everyone!

Happy Fathers Day to those in the US and UK. I still miss my dad, who died when I was 33. Much too young, and it left a gaping hole in my world.

I have only one review, from Dona, and I did send a thank-you. I think I'll continue to do so.

Not much to talk about today. It's been over three weeks since I've had a sale, so June so far is a real bust.

The weather today is supposed to be just gorgeous. Low 80s and bright sunshine!

Good morning all. Sorry I have been MIA this week. I was traveling and not catching up much at all. Then this weekend my vintage team (EPS) had a new items Blitz which took up most of my Saturday. :-)

Happy Father's Day (UK and US). I miss my dad too. He passed away when I was in my 40s and it still seems like yesterday. Here's to Charles Francis Thompson!

Today is Father's Day in the good old USA, so Happy Father's Day to all our members and your Dads.

I received the email from Etsy and I am wondering if it was a heads up for what is to come for all international sellers? Oh Well, there really is not a thing we can do about it, so we just need to suck it up. http://europa.eu/about-eu/countries/index_en.htm Here is a link to a list of all the countries in the European Union.

Next Saturday is the first day of Summer and the longest day of the year. Then the days start getting shorter from the 21st on. I would rather have longer days, because I know what is coming when the day gets shorter. Boo!!!!! Hang in there Caroline and put on your sleeping mask.

That is the attitude Isobel, jump in and get it over with and you will be closer to your daughter as a reward. This is not the first time you have been through a move but hopefully the last one.

Candi, I have not sent a thank you for reviews I have received. Etsy does not encourage emailing a customer, so I have not done it. Now, if the customer contacts me to tell me of their satisfaction, I will reply to them, thanking them for their kind words.

Val, I hope your day at the shop is profitable for you and the sun comes out as well.

I have to go to the grocery store, work on some frames, fix dinner and work on my Etsy Shop. Tomorrow I will help finalize things at my neighbor's house, then Tuesday I go to the surgeon. I could use prayers that the hernia can be repaired by laproscopic surgery. Have a Lovely Day Everyone!

A belated Happy Father's Day to UK Dad's, but no so late for many in the US.

I lost my birth Dad when I was 10 months old, but by that time I had been sent to live with an Aunt and Uncle in the South of India because my Dad was fighting the grandads, uncles etc. of the lot we're still involved with in Pakistan/Afganistan! (Pakistan was still India in 1940 - and for those who may not know already, my Mum died when I was 8 days old - awkward situation for my Dad!). Thus I never really knew my birth parents.

My Aunt and Uncle reared me as their youngest child (they'd had 3 of their own before I arrived!). I was lucky compared with what could have happened - given that there was a World War going on at the time.

Celebrating Father's Day really started to matter when we lived in Canada between 1975 and 1987 - it hadn't really registered in the UK before - but alas that ended in 2012 for the Morrells. However, today just happens to be the second anniversary of Peter's Requiem, so it's a bit of a sad day for us - although we know he's in a much better place.

Mugen - if it is time for them to be renewed, and you've got the 20c each to do so, that's what it's all about. Even if the expiry date hasn't been reached, Etsy just love it if you renew (and it's supposed to increase the chance of the Search Engines picking up your Shop and products quicker too!) Go for it - that's what I've was doing earlier in the year - one a day - just to keep the SEO's wondering what was happening. Alas, I've not had the time recently to keep up the pace!

Evening,
I've had a lovely day with my dad, I'm really lucky as I see him really regularly now...making up for lost time I guess (I didn't meet him til I was 8 as he was a raging alcoholic and mum didn't want me around him while he was drunk, he's now recovering and has been sober for 18 years, incredibly proud of him for that), but it's always nice to have some quality time just me him and the dog :) Happy Fathers Day to all celebrating today, and my thoughts are with those of you who have sadly lost your fathers, today is a day when the loss must feel even worse than other days.
Thank you again for all your advice yesterday, much appreciated, and I've stopped panicking for now lol. Will start again if it hasn't arrived within 45 days!!
Mary re the email I think it's actually just a UK newsletter for those in a certain UK based team who have signed up to receive this newsletter, although I have since received another June Etsy newsletter that has the same info in, I think it was yesterday?!
Time for bed now I think, hopefully get a decent nights sleep ready for another week of work, as long as the neighbours aren't watching the World Cup anyway!! Night :)
