IMPORTANT ETSY ANNOUNCEMENT --- Retiring Treasuries and Trending Items

Hi all,

Today we’re announcing the retirement of two shopping experiences on Etsy: the Trending Items page and Treasuries.

Each day, you as sellers make tough decisions that are best for your businesses. Similarly, the decision to retire an experience can be really challenging for the teams building tools and products at Etsy. It is important to continually check on the success of the product and consider the costs of offering it compared to the benefits for our customers. Ultimately, both Treasuries and the Trending Items page no longer meet their goals. It’s important to refocus resources on more proven marketing efforts that we believe will improve exposure to your shop and continue the growth of your sales and the entire Etsy marketplace.

When Treasuries launched in 2006, it was one of the first ways Etsy sellers celebrated and promoted each other's work. Throughout the years, our community has curated Treasuries that have showcased the diversity of the Etsy marketplace while encouraging and collaborating with other sellers.

While we've loved seeing the community support, one of our top priorities is creating ways to help you market your shop, while also helping buyers find the items they’re looking for. Our data shows that few buyers view Treasuries, and even fewer purchase from them. Based, in part, on this information, we are removing this feature, which will allow us to dedicate more resources to proven marketing efforts that will increase exposure to your shop. As of October 5, members will no longer be able to create new Treasuries or edit existing ones. The Trending Items page that aggregated popular items on Etsy will also become unavailable to all visitors later today. Our research found that the Trending items page did not receive significant traffic and buyers did not fully understand the purpose of this feature, so the page was not an important part of their shopping experience. We encourage buyers and sellers who are looking for inspiration and popular items to browse on the Etsy homepage, under Editors’ Picks and Shops Worth Exploring, and check out our blog where you can find articles on trends to watch, featured shops and shopping guides.

For those of you who have created Treasuries, thank you for your help bringing Etsy to life. We’d love for you to share any additional tips you have for discovering Etsy’s trends, promoting your shop and collaborating with other sellers to cooperatively market your shops.

An Update About Treasuries on Etsy

Find out about changes to Treasuries coming up on October 5.


When Treasuries launched in 2006, it was one of the first ways Etsy sellers celebrated and promoted each other's work. Throughout the years, our community has curated Treasuries that have showcased the diversity of the Etsy marketplace while encouraging and collaborating with other sellers.

While we’ve loved seeing the community support, one of our top priorities is creating ways to help you market your shop, while also helping buyers find the items they’re looking for. Our data shows that few buyers view Treasuries, and even fewer purchase from them. Based in part on this information, we are removing this feature, which will allow us to dedicate more resources to proven marketing efforts that we hope will increase exposure to your shop. As of October 5, members will no longer be able to create new Treasuries or edit existing ones.

On October 5, we will be removing links to the Treasuries page from buyer access points, including the homepage, Favorites page and user profile. Existing Treasuries will still be accessible, and we do not have current plans to remove these from the site. External links to Treasury pages will continue to function, and buyers can still purchase available items from these Treasuries.

We often hear from sellers that marketing is one of the hardest parts of running your shops. We will continue to invest in marketing tools to help you grow your creative business. Here are some resources to help you market your shop and gain exposure to your items using Etsy tools and marketing efforts:
