Olya - I have more of a question rather than a critique - I notice you don't have any commas in your title... Is that ok for Etsy searches?

Tyson, the general consensus is that search engines ignore punctuation. But, punctuation does make it easier for humans to read.

Correct me if I'm wrong, everyone.

i thought it does not matter. I see a lot of listings on the 1st page of a particular search that do not use commas

What do exerts say?

commas, or spaces before them or after dont matter.

that isnt terrible, but it could be better.. Use INCHES in the descriptions also. Americans dont know metric.

bright red necklace, then you have Pendant. by itself....

I would write it

Bright red necklace, silver tree pendant, nature jewelry, tree branch pendant, tree of life jewelry,elegant necklace, silver tree necklace.

each of those 7 phrases is also its own tag, and each of them are what someone may type in when looking for that piece.

By the way - this item is now on page two for "red necklace" search - yuupeee!!!! and on page one for "red necklace pendant" which on its own has 52 something thousand items (of course!)

However - Alex has a point - i checked - many other items - that are on the same page actually do not have "necklace pendant" in the title but rather do as Alex suggested - use both "necklace" and "pendant" separately as part of other keywords.

now i just need to rewrite tags and title for the other 150 listings of mine.... piece of cake.... which i am so behind so Carolyn is not alone... but i wanted to make sure i understand the basics of this first - before having to rewrtitw all 150 twice

It's an ongoing process. Don't worry if you are behind, just take a chunk at a time and keep working on them. It never really ends. But it is honestly so important to get good etsy search traffic. Update, assess, repeat.

I'm having more trouble with this section, in that I am finding that the tags I come up with for each of my card listings are very similar.

I am still in the "cleansing" process. Although I have not been able to keep up on a daily basis, I am committed to keeping up with the tasks - even if it takes more than 30 days. :::smile::: Finding revising tags and titles easier - more productive in terms of higher page rankings on Etsy.

Kimberly: that's OK. If you have to do it at your own pace. Just keep plugging along. At least you have a 31-point list of tasks to guide you.

Keep the end result in mind: a vastly improved shop. Many of us are already experiencing higher views and sales as a result of the cleanse.

I too am way behind! I was rolling along nicely but with it being wedding season I am busy and having a hard time keeping up with some of the daily tasks. I am committed to this process so will keep going at my pace.

Different results. Both phrases fit in one tag each. Most people split it up, like you do now. There's an advantage.

I think I got 7 listings updated. Also added 4-5 new listings.

Been retaking pictures a bit at a time, since there is no way for me to do all at once. Tried retaking pictures of 10 things, and I got overwhelmed and updated maybe 1 or 2 of them. So, I have to take it 1-2 items at a time for pictures.

Some I've sold the original, so not sure how to handle that. Don't want to make a new sterling silver bracelet when there are so many sizes that I can end up selling. I have a limited supply of sterling silver on hand - enough to make orders if they come in, but that's it. We've been hit hard with illnesses, missed work and doctor bills lately so we have NO money to buy extra supplies just for pictures at this point.
