Day 2: Clean your computer desktop, organize your business documents and pictures. Download business plan template here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/10mxselKUZakAIJt5OCGHaPkoYVRTw3If8NfEzv3G-eg/edit?usp=sharing (Or copy and paste it from below). Download it only, do not fill out yet. We will be adding to it throughout the 30 days.

For cleaning your desktop, consider the actual physical space surrounding your computer and the actual files on your computer. Is everything Etsy related in a folder? Is it mixed in with your personal stuff? Do you have old pictures floating around that you won't use again? Organize everything business related into a folder and delete unnecessary documents/photos.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Business Plan Template

(Value Proposition) One sentence description of your business. This is your mission statement.

(Your Solution) A description of your products, define them and what makes them unique.

Big Scary Goal:
(Target Market) Answer this question in as much detail as you can.

(Sales Channels & Marketing Activities) How will these customers find me?
Advertising, marketing, Etsy search, social media strategy?

(Market need) What problem does this product/service solve for the customer?

(Competition) Who else is out there and why is yours better?

(Financials: Budgeting) What tools or materials I need to produce this product/service?

(Financials: Forecasting) How will I make money? What is your pricing formula? Does it allow for wholesale? What is your profit margin? Are you paying yourself?

(Future Expansion) What other stuff could I sell these customers later?

(Funding Needs & Use of Funds) Expenses. Are these one-time or recurring?

(Execution) Timeline for tasks to be completed, plan for improvement.

(Milestones) How will I know it’s working? Example: I will have ____ sales by ______.

What do I need to worry about? What potential issues should I be aware of? Anything I am not doing now that I should be soon? Business license, seller’s permit, DBA, business bank account, federal tax id, etc.

Re: DAY 2

The business plan template is great. Thank you!
I am only 3.5 months in to my Etsy career and I have been able to maintain good organization on my computer. It's the physical workspace that needs A LOT of attention in my shop. I dread it ....

Re: DAY 2

Day 2 is a struggle for me - no whining, just saying I let the basics of good housekeeping for desktop and laptop lapse for too long. Am looking forward to when I complete the tasks!

Re: DAY 2

Um...I spent 3.5 cleaning up my computer files and I still have work I want to do on this. I also downloaded the business plan. And I spent a little time cleaning up my loft space. It was a productive day!

Re: DAY 2

You are all amazing!! I downloaded and printed the business plan. I had already organized my computer files a few weeks ago - feels so good! Still need to do some serious work on my physical workspace. It's never organized enough to be fully functional for me.

While I was on a deleting frenzy, I've decided to tackle my email account. I'm embarrassed to admit I hadn't cleaned it out in 3 years. GULP. I'm now being relentless. 800+ emails deleted, about 2000 more to go.

Re: DAY 2

I've spent hours organizing/deleting files today, but it is a beast that cannot be tamed in one day. Since I'm only revising two items at a time, I'll spend extra time organizing on those days.

Re: DAY 2

Downloaded business plan yesterday.

Started on computer files, but not enough hours in the day. Will finish up over the holiday weekend.

Re: DAY 2

Everything is tidy. I just cleaned up my computer files a few days ago.

My studio is clean, too.

So for my task of getting organized, I am going to the print shop to print out labels that I am running out of preemptively, instead of doing them "as needed". I often wait until I am out.

I still have the fearful mentality of "what if this product doesn't sell and I am stuck with back supplies"? After 3 years of running my business, I am smart enough to prepare for what is most likely going to sell now.

Re: DAY 2

Work area clean, computer files sorted! All my bits and pieces of paper is a whole other story though... I'll be running off to the office supply store later today and organize these things in a binder instead of jamming stuff in miscellaneous places - lol

Download business plan. Done
Clean Computer Desktop. Done
Organize Bus. Documents & Pics. I do this regularly, so just a bit of tidying up today. Reading about some of you cleaning out email has inspired me to work on that today too! This is great.

I am seriously afraid to look at my actual workspace though...Day 8 will be a busy one!
