Freebies for customers

What kind of freebies do you give out with purchases? I am thinking of adding a thank you gift but am stumped as to what would be appropriate/cost effective. We sell fiber (rovings, yarn) and knitwear so it would need to be something small and economical. Suggestions?

Well... a good idea would probably to give samples of other yarns/rovings with each purchase! That's what we do with our yarn. We made little sampler cards that we tie the yarn onto in little bows. :)

Or samples of other roving colors would be cool too!

Anyone else have ideas?

I had the same thought, but I couldn't think of anything to send out so my husband had the idea of sending out a coupon with every order so that's what I have been doing. I include a business card with a coupon code on it with every order. I would love to still be able to send out a free gift but I haven't managed anything yet...I was thinking samples of woolwash from other sellers since I sell yarns...

We send out coupons and a small needle felted item such as a heart or a flower depending on what season were in and what's in stock. Sometimes I'll create some small item that matches the purchase and fits on a key-chain.

We give away tote bags with our logo for >$25 purchases. We buy them 150 at a time, so they're fairly affordable. Our customers seem to love them, plus then they're carrying around their yarn (or groceries or whatever) in a bag with our logo on it. The totes have been so popular, people want to buy several, but we can't really justify selling the totes on Etsy since they're not truly a supply, or handmade, or vintage. But the freebie has been really fun.

yarnsofitaly that is a great idea ! Not only are your customers happy to get a little gift but then they are also advertising for your shop.

We highly recommend inkheaddotcom. They did such a great job! We had planned just to have them put text on the bag (because our logo is four color), and they came up with the cutest one color alternative logo for free.

I always send a little package of sweets/candy but I like the idea of fibre samples.

I always give away my "cast-offs" items that didn't quite live up to my perfectionism. LOL - my customs don't seem to think there is anything wrong with them though!
