eBay could be pressured to sell StubHub or its classifieds business, suggested a Wall Street analyst. SeekingAlpha cited Bloomberg First Word, which wrote about a report from Aegis Capital analyst Victor Anthony.

Anthony sees Etsy, Wayfair, and Groupon as potential acquisition targets if the economy slows next year.

"The analyst expects activist investors to push eBay for the sale of the Classifieds and StubHub businesses. EBAY could use the cash for repurchases and a "transformative" acquisition," SeekingAlpha said of the Bloomberg story.

We could imagine eBay selling StubHub, though unwillingly; but it's hard to see eBay selling its global classifieds business.
