Cleanins Silver
Here is an excellent and simple method to clean silverware using household materials and with very little effort.
This method might not be adequate for cleaning siver jewelry.
Materials needed: 1. Silverware to clean 2. Boiling water 3. Aluminium Foil 4. Baking soda
5. A bowl large enough you could cover the silver dish with water.. Clean soft towel
lProcedure:At the bottom of the bowl put a layer of aluminum foil with the shiny side up.Sprinkle over the foil, heaping teaspoon of baking soda (for a large silverware, add 2-3 teaspoons).Pour the boiling water into the bowl. Add the silver dish carefully in. If water dont cover the dish, add some more, taking care not to pour it on the silver dish. Within seconds, the silver tarnish starts to bind to the aluminium foil.
Wash with dish soap and lukewarm water
.At the end of the process, be sure to thoroughly dry the silver and polish it using a clean soft towel. What can we learn?Silver tarnishes as a result of oxidation. It reacts with the sulfur particles that are in the air (sulfur emitted by cars) and silver sulfide is formed. Silver sulfide is black. Once we remove the layer of silver sulfide, our object will return to clean silver.

·4 months agoBy the way, I just received a lot of very dirty, gold filled jewelry that soon will be going into this brew to be revitalized. Everyone should give this a go on gold, gold filled and sterling silver jewelry. Just be wary of using it on porous stones.

·5 months agoHi Anat,
Great share!
I recently found this method online and gave it a try on some really tarnished and dirty gold jewelry. I was blown away by the results. The jewelry came out bright gold and sparkling and required little to no effort on my part. I would be hesitant to use it on anything containing porous or natural stones, like pearls, coral and turquoise but I think most hard gemstones would be fine.
I was just thinking back to the old days of this team, all the great fellow vogueteam shop members that I met and how much I learned that helped me with starting my shop which is now going on 12 years. I hope we'll all get to talk and share more on this page.

I'm doing fine. I hope you are doing well too.
You are so right, times have changed immensely! Our world over here is the US is...well, there's really no good word to describe that, now is there?
I've truly missed the camaraderie we had with this group and wish there was a better way to promote that in this new team format. I'm sure we'd have a lot to share with one another that could be helpful.
Your shop is looking great, and I hope it's giving you many sales.
Best to you,
Karen
