Self-promoting your shop - What do you do? 11/11/2025

Growing a business is hard. Being part of a team that helps you and your shop also takes time. Without involvement things fail.

IF your sales are off, if your views are low, how do you resolve that?

Do you know what your shops stats show and what items are being viewed and where the traffic is coming from?

How much time each day do you devote to your shop?

Do you follow other Etsy shops?

Do you use search engines to look for your shop and listings?

How do you self-promote your shop?

When I started my Etsy account it was because I was forced into retirement and need additional income and all I did was list and sell and list and sell Or hope to sell. But over the past 10 years both Etsy and buying online has change. So, to be successful one has to learn the tools that help us grow.

What is your experience and what hints, tips and tricks can you share with others?

    Have a great selling season.

shows are a lot of work but I have found that I receive a lot of special orders and hand out as many cards as I can. I do follow shops, I post on Instagram but still like to see better results

Last weekend I did a two-day show. So, what am I doing today? Laundry and recuperating. I like art shows, and mixing with other artists. It seems very easy to spot interested buyers. You can surmise that a woman who is not wearing any jewelry is not going to buy any jewelry, but she will manage to touch, try on, and ask a million questions. If you are lucky, she will say, "Thank you," and move on. I guess I am still tired of people today. How many other sellers do Art and Craft shows? Raise your hands! P.S. At least, I made some $$$. The price of silver on the Comex, just crossed the $50 a troy ounce line. And then there is the cost of fabrication, converting ore into bullion, and then fabricating sheets of fine silver or sterling silver. Ouch! I am rambling now. Time for a Marguerita, Ms. Tiggy Wiggy is waiting and woofing for a splash of tequila.

Most of the members of this team, are vintage sellers, so the cost of goods varies so much as there are Estate sales to getting things at the curb.

I for one do not do event sales or show, early on we did a few pop-up vintage shows at established markets, but it was a LOT of work and not worth the time and expense to get pennies.

You are right, the shows are a lot of work. I do sell vintage Native American jewelry, i.e. Navajo, Hopi, and Zuni.
