Every shop on Etsy has a name, and every shop name has a story behind it—whether it was chosen to reflect what you sell, or based on something sentimental, or just something that sounds good! So what’s the story behind yours? Where did it come from? Did naming come easily to you, or was it a difficult decision?

·5 years agoTell you what I would like.....some one to answer my emails at etsy to help me resolve an issue that is causing me stress . We have to answer our messages from buyers within 24 hours or we get marked for it. But its OK for etsy to leave us hanging when we need support and a response. Maybe looking after etsy sellers would be great before focusing on podcasts?

·5 years agoMy name has the initials of 'C' and 'A'. I designed the logo based on my real name. If you'd look at my logo, it's a negative space of 'C' and 'A'. Then, I wanted my business name to start with 'C' and 'A' and came up with Cansepto which came from the word 'concept'. I wanted to create a product that is fresh and unique (hopefully) My business is about making original personalized digital drawing printed on a sustainable tote bag.
Because of this small business, it gave me a boost to embrace more a simple, eco-friendly, minimalist, and sustainable lifestyle.
Yes, the logo was created first before the name. Weird, right?

How to meet Aztecs and be almost one
Another boring esoteric fair – until a friend of mine pushed me out of a daydream.
“Look” she almost screamed in my ear.
As I turned, I was stunned. A group of men and women in fantastic dresses and with enormous feather crowns on their heads, dancing in a breathtaking tempo to a staccato drum . . .
"Close your mouth again," warned my friend, "that looks so stupid." I obeyed automatically. Then it was over.
After a few months ago she came to me – excited: "They come again - and quite near us!"
My intelligent "Huh?" showed that I did not know what she meant, until I heard from her flood of words, that it was about those Indians.
"They are Aztecs," she corrected my naivety.
"Why, the Native Indians – aren’t they?" came back to my naive answer, what my dear friend just brought to roll her eyes upwards, slightly unnerved.
Of course, we went to the show (I had my own booth on this fair) and - of course - we invited the whole group to stay with us - we had a big house. . .
This led to a friendship. As one of the group wanted to realize his own ideas, he turned to me.
It was the beginning of an almost four years lasting intense connection and work. A new group started out of this originally seen group with me as head of the company – with all responsibilities by me. In this time, I learned a lot of tradition and art craft. Also, I learned parts of their ceremonies – especially the ceremony of aura clearing – which I still celebrate for who ever is asking me.
When the Schengen agreement became valid I had to break up my group because I didn't get a special permit.
In 2010 I started wit art craft in Germany and after moving to my home country Austria in 2012 I am now continuing as a freelance artist.
The most popular works are still the dream catchers, then of course earrings, hair clips, jewelry and much, much more.

·5 years agoHi I am Carla and I always wanted to have my very own Studio-Atelier. I am architect and I love to paint and draw so I knew my shop had to be an Atelier and 246 cause I live in the number 206 but since I wanted to have success and I believe in numerology I chose a name - number combination that gives a 10 as result and so I got Atelier246 . I hope all the work thinking about the right name it works

When I was 16 I was a fan of the band 'Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction'. The guitarist in the band was called Cobalt Stargazer.
I got a pet cat, and I called him Cobalt, after the guitarist.
When I was 24 I opened a comic shop on the east coast of the UK. I called the shop Cobalt, after the cat.
The shop eventually closed down but I had a fun few years.
So, Cobalt Creations is my Etsy store that's named after a cat, but it's kind of also named after a comic shop and a rock guitarist.

·5 years agoHi I’m Brit! My shop names is well, bath Salts By Britt. It’s pretty simple. I make bath salts(soon to be more bath products) and my name is Brit! So when I was 11 and started my business that’s what my little brain came up with and it kind of stuck!

·5 years agoI struggled for months to come up with a shop name. I finally settled on my family name since it was starting me in the face and basically begging me to use it. It turns out my ancestors came to America in 1850 and started the McKeone & Co Soapworks in Philadelphia. Since I am selling soap, I decided to use my last name as a celebration of the original soap works factory. So McKeone & Co Soapworks it is. (It's pronounced Mc-Q-in)

·5 years agoI picked my name about 10 years ago, while at uni - Animal Revolution - I wanted something fun and to hint at the animal theme of cut accessories I had at the time. I also recycle/upcycle a lot of materials - this is something I still do. I was heavily studying recycled and sustainable materials and the alternative / punk fashions.
This was my second choice but the first name I picked two years prior to any shop was already forgotten. And while I have reopened after a few years closed, I don't feel it fits well. I don't want to change everything until I have my heart on a truly suitable name that I adore - which I think most people know is hard.

·5 years agoMy shop's name is Rope Sprite. Only a month or so old at this point.
February 10, 2020, I suffered a stroke at work that left me completely paralyzed on my right side and unable to verbally communicate for several weeks. Recovery has been super, super slow - and it hasn't helped that COVID has everything still limited/shut down in my area.
I still have to use a cane to move around and speech is difficult for me - impossible if I get stressed/anxious/scared - and my hands tremor constantly.
Since physical therapy is still out of the question for me, I've had to get creative with what I do to keep moving. The idea for Rope Sprite started when I began noticing water puddles forming on the furniture from glass/drinking cup condensation. Took several days of practice, but I figured out that I can make coasters (working on baskets now) fairly well if I don't rush and take my time putting them together.

I make satin scrunchies and me and my girls love and enjoy matching scrunchies
they come in mini, medium & large size , they are super soft and cute,
I let me daughter help me making them too

·5 years agoMy shop is named in memory of my mother's mother Julia Nell. As I child, I have only fond memories of her. She transitioned when, I was only six years old. I wish I would have had more time with her. I called her Granny.

·5 years agoGracelinePaperStudio ....... a simple but meaningful shop title chosen by my grandchildren 11 or so years ago. On a whim I heard tell that there was an online community of crafters selling on a sight called Etsy. Searching as I did for an unusual craft I came upon something special, an origami flower called Kusudama. Asian crafts, products, population, and especially traditions thrill me. I picked my product, now to name my shop and then open. My grandkids and I threw out some ideas, many of them including the name 'grace' my middle name. And my grandkids chose....Graceline Paper Studio was born out of the minds of babes.

·5 years agoThe name of our shop Reese Wood Products comes from the family history in the lumber business. Dwight's father owned a pallet mill in the 70's and 80's and the name of that was Reese Lumber. Dwight grew up around lumber and wood so it just seemed a perfect fit. We also brand all products with the JR2 brand in memory of our son Jared whom we lost in 2013 right after starting this business. Jared's baseball # was 2 and he was born on the 2nd so that was his number. Fundraisers were held in his honor for 5 years and the JR2 logo was always on the shirts:)

My name is Vаdim, but my friends call me Vadik. Big letter K - Kibardin (my last name).
Leather is what I work with.
About the logo. The letter "A" is upside down and resembles the head of a cow. And the cross over the letter "I" symbolizes a hand-made Ukrainian stitch.

My shop name is glittersparkvini. I love glitters . So draw my first painting from glitter. It inspire me to go this work again and again. Then I try many other colours (watercolour, poster colour, Acrylics, wax colour, oil colour etc.). Glitter Sparks my world .

·5 years agoMy shop is names Little Worm Studio. When my husband & I started our business we sold garden flags, we came up with Little Worm Studio. Garden flags were a flop.... but we kept the name!! We now sell personalized ceramic plates & ring dishes.

·5 years agoMine is rather trite. JewelryByOri: My traditional name is Oriaku, hence, Ori. The thing is, most people know me by my English name: Grace. So if you call me "Ori", I assume we have a deep/intimate/close relationship. It is sacred. So, I pay homage to my name with beautiful jewels.

My Mother's first name starts with "D" and my first name starts with "N." I wanted a name that wasn't too product specific, yet meaningful to me.

·5 years agoMy shop name is Woodcamper Crafts. Based on the name you would think I sell some type of wood craft but I don’t, not even close, I sell crochet patterns. So how did I get the name? My six year old son came up with it. I thought about changing it but just didn’t have the heart. The name doesn’t help direct traffic to my store but it’s sentimental and I love it.

·5 years agoMy shop is called giftedboxes because I used to sell handmade gift boxes and i thought the name was brilliant, a genuine stroke of absolute genius. I no longer sell gift boxes and I think the name is completely ridiculous but I've had it too long (12 years) now to change it!

As I am cleaning out the home she lived in since 1954 I am finding from A to Z and soup to nuts. Every box in a new surprise.

·5 years agoHi everyone! I’m Nat, owner of Sunshine Greetings Co! We design and sell greeting cards that celebrate world culture.
The story behind the name of my shop is that I have the personal motto of “if I can make at least one person smile, I know it has been a good day”. I have always enjoyed designing greeting cards, and would like my products to make people smile or maybe even provide a chuckle or two!
For a variety of joyful special occasions, I hope that our cards act as a ray of sunshine!

·5 years agoMost of the items in my Shop were inherited from a relative whose favorite saying was "You're Just Gonna Love it". She would say that to get me to buy something I was hesitant about. And though I hated to admit it most of the time she was right. I did love it.
