Etsy Insights: Your February shop checklist and calendar

Hi all!

I’m Isabella and I work on Etsy’s Community Education team. My team is focused on sharing educational resources here in the Forums and via our seller programming.

Every month we’re sharing a monthly guide to help you prepare your shop for success. Here are a few highlights from this month’s checklist:

To celebrate self-love and all that you’ve accomplished in your shop, we invite you to write a love letter to your Etsy shop! Head to our Instagram Story Highlight titled, “Shop Letter,” take a screenshot of the custom template, fill in the blanks, and share your completed love letter via your own Instagram story.
Refresh your product photos. Product photography can also help you give shoppers the information they need. Props in your photos give a sense of the item’s size and scale, while close-up shots help shoppers understand the texture. Include photos and a listing video to highlight your item’s best features. Simplify your tax prep and bookkeeping with money-saving deductions and tax estimates from Quickbooks. Plus, Etsy Sellers save 50% off their first 3 months. Terms apply. Subscription required.
RSVP for our February 23 webinar with Etsy Senior Payments Specialist, Carissa Malvai and Lisa Greene-Lewis, a CPA and tax expert for TurboTax. During the session they’ll discuss some of the most frequently asked questions from Etsy sellers during tax season.
If you’re eligible to receive a 1099-K form from Etsy, it will be ready for download before the end of January on the Legal and tax information page in your Shop Manager. If you've opted out of paperless forms, you'll receive a mailed paper copy after this date, sent to the taxpayer address you have on file for your account. The best part of every order is getting the chance to send my customers a handwritten note, featuring some products from my shop! I am amazed every time a new sale comes in, it really is the little things on Etsy that keep us going and hoping for so much more. Currently putting in the work to finish and list a new painting each week. I would say writing a hand written Thank You note without an order could stress you out for a shop closure for a while at least, as you have to spend money on the card and postage, it is quicker and sensible for now to use nicely the messaging service, email, phone or Zoom chat, unless there is an alternative solution.

Hi Isabella!

Thank you for your monthly guide and for all the helpful resources you provide for us Etsy sellers. I'm especially excited about the "Love Letter to Your Etsy Shop" activity on Instagram! I think it's a great way to reflect on our accomplishments and show appreciation for our own hard work.

I also appreciate the reminder to refresh my product photos and keep my bookkeeping organized with Quickbooks. I'll be sure to RSVP for the February 23 webinar to get some expert advice on taxes.

Sending handwritten thank-you notes to my customers is a great idea, and I'll definitely use the account security checklist to keep my account protected.

As for the upcoming events and holidays, I'm definitely focusing on Valentine's Day and Women's History Month. I have a few special promotions and product releases planned to celebrate those occasions.
