Etsy Insights: What’s Trending for Mother’s Day
Hi everyone!
Isabella from the Community Education team here. Since Mother’s Day (in the US and many other countries) is coming up soon, I wanted to share how shoppers are showing up this year—and how you can position your shop for maximum impact.
Searches for Mother’s Day gifts start climbing in early April, around the 7th, and peak the week of April 21, with volumes surpassing 460K searches.* We also expect to see a strong final surge during the week before the holiday on May 10, so there’s opportunity for you to capture both early planners and last-minute shoppers.
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
1. Jewelry continues to shine
Searches for jewelry gifts for mom are up by 2,529% year over year, and custom terms continue to rise within the category.* Think birthstones, birth flower engravings, name necklaces—gifts that feel one-of-a-kind.
Highlighting personalization options—like names, initials, dates, or symbolic details—can help shoppers quickly see how a piece becomes their own. Using specific keywords such as “birthstone necklace” or “custom name jewelry,” along with clear photos of engraving or variation options, can also make it easier for buyers to find exactly what they’re looking for.
2. Celebrating every kind of mom
Search data reflects growing interest in gifts for all the moms. Mothers-in-law, grandmothers, godmothers, and first-time moms—shoppers are looking for inclusive, thoughtful options.
Sellers may consider how their listings can speak to a wider range of recipients. Small updates—like adding variations, tags, or descriptive language that calls out different types of moms—can help broaden visibility. Showcasing how a product could work for multiple relationships, either in listing photos or descriptions, can also help shoppers quickly recognize it as a meaningful fit.
3. Elevated gifting
Gift baskets for mom were up 228% compared to the previous year, suggesting increased interest in curated gifting moments*. At the same time, the increased interest this year in linen clothing (+840%) and antique decor (+580%) suggests growing interest in timeless, quality pieces made to last.**
This creates an opportunity for sellers to lean into presentation and perceived value. Thoughtfully bundled items, cohesive product sets, or gift-ready packaging may help products feel more complete and special. Emphasizing materials, craftsmanship, and longevity in descriptions—and showing styled, lifestyle imagery—can further reinforce that sense of quality and make listings feel like lasting gifts, not just one-time purchases.
As you prep your shop for Mother’s Day, consider refreshing seasonal tags and highlighting personalization options to attract shoppers looking for a one-of-a-kind Mother’s Day gift. At the end of April, remember to review processing times to ensure they’re up to date and feature ready-to-ship items for last-minute buyers.

·4 months agoThis is super helpful, thanks for sharing these insights!
I run a small Etsy shop, cleverfox3dprint.etsy.com, where I focus on personalized 3D-printed gifts, and I’m definitely seeing that shift toward custom and meaningful items. For Mother’s Day this year, I’m leaning heavily into personalized keychains and small accessories, things people can add names, initials, or special messages to.
The trend around “every kind of mom” really resonates too. I’ve started updating my listings to include options for grandmothers, godmothers, and first-time moms, and it’s already helping with visibility.
Also love the point about presentation. I'm working on improving packaging to make even smaller items feel like a complete gift.
Curious to see how others are approaching personalization this season!

·4 months agoVintage, nostalgia, and travel are among the trends I'm hoping will appeal to shoppers searching for Mother's Day gifts. All the jewelry in my shop contains some antique or vintage component, and several pieces align well with travel themes--either because of images in my pieces or the point of origin of the decorative elements I use. The broadest appeal with my entire shop, however, is dog-lovers. And what Mom hasn't shared her family with a beloved dog or had one as her own childhood companion?

SpiritualSHIMAYA
·4 months agoThis Mother’s Day, I find myself leaning even more into the core direction of my shop.
Intentional — each piece carries a sense, a mood, an inner gesture, not just decoration.
Organic — natural, imperfect forms that feel alive rather than symmetrical.
Timeless — made to stay, not just for a season.
I feel this especially strongly in my Heart Rings collection. For me, they’re not about trends or even self-expression — they’re about honoring the one who loved us first: mom 🤍
This perspective shapes how I approach both design and presentation this season.
