Etsy Insights: Summer 2024 Trends

Hi everyone! I’m Dayna Johnson Isom, resident Trend Expert here at Etsy. The next several months are packed with fresh opportunities to attract new shoppers, including school graduation festivities and the kickoff of summer in many parts of the world. Our brand new Marketplace Insights report covers the fresh decor, style, and gifting themes we anticipate will circulate in the coming months, based on Etsy search data and wider industry forecasting.

Today I’m excited to share three of my favorites for summer, along with ideas for how they might come to life in your own shop.

1. Chef’s Kiss

With award-winning kitchen culture TV shows and the rise of the celebrity chef, the culinary world has become a dominant force in the cultural zeitgeist, and shoppers are responding with a resounding “Yes, Chef!” as they embrace restaurant-inspired styles in both their homes and wardrobes. In 2024, expect this new iteration of dopamine dressing and decor to heat up even more, with everything from foodie-inspired art that’s a feast for the eyes, to clothing and accessories that let you rep your favorite food or cocktail with pride.

2. Modern Milestones

Shoppers are embracing spontaneity and joy with this delightful shift in gifting culture, where celebrations are extending beyond the traditional holidays and gifting occasions like birthdays and anniversaries. From BFF anniversaries to pet “gotcha” days and even divorce gifts to usher in new beginnings, these modern milestones are all about celebrating each of life’s little moments, fostering a culture of appreciation and connection.

3. Western 2.0

Along with country music’s recent move into the mainstream, the iconic Western look has transcended its cowboy roots to become a symbol of rugged-yet-chic-style, and the newest version of the Western trend incorporates timeless elements like leather, suede and fringe with a touch of glam. In the home, we’re seeing shoppers lean into durable, distressed leather and denim furniture, infused with more contemporary pieces for a look that’s both laid-back and luxe.

What amazing insights! I've been trying to get involved with the 'modern milestones' trend by having greetings cards which don't have writing on leaving them open ended and suitable for any occasion. I find this has been working really well for me!

This is very helpful. I did really well with greeting cards and virtual celebration supplies during covid. I think that people are ready to celebrate for many reasons. I’ve always felt that scrapbooks, cards and event supplies are always popular in happy times and sad. The gift finding tool is really great. I’ve used it with success myself.
How to get found and compete with unique products is the key!! . Knowing the trends help!

Western themes are a great topic for my vintage store where I sell western themed toys and other forgotten treasures.

I grew up on Roy Rogers, Gene Autry and other TV cowboy heroes.

We do a yearly Route 66 tour thru the southwest looking for wonderful old timey western goodies.

Would love to se more western on any kind here. Except of course country western music! LOL.

Trending is a thing I hear and see often concern of being in I used the term liking and attracting the Crafted Cocktails around and paying attention, I found if people are in a little hip they recognize and understand my coasters from dealing with adult beverages. It took a year. But now with a few short stories it's not bad it's nice to hear a few guy's tell their side sometime. I think I have a good item, but I get used or a dang! Idea to many I have insight after I keep stalling. But I was able to get Etsy . I want more Q and A's ya know but do hope to sell. And kick back and tell a story like these. Sounds good. Like I said it's always good to hear the other side sometimes.
