Etsy Insights: Quick Tips for Getting Featured by Etsy Marketing
Hi everyone!
I’m Mary from Etsy’s Merchandising team. From Editor’s Picks and seasonal gift guides to trend roundups, emails, and even larger marketing moments like TV ads, our team is always looking to spotlight the special items you’re creating and curating—and help amplify the meaningful stories behind them. Here are my top tips to catch the attention of the teams behind those features:
1. Make it easy to discover you
We search on Etsy like every other buyer. So your keywords are super important—make sure they represent all the core aspects of your items. Choose straightforward, descriptive titles that contain the most important words at the beginning and avoid any vague terms or words that could be misinterpreted. Use all the 13 tags available, including a couple of relevant long tail ones, and make sure your description is accurate and answers any question shoppers might have about your item.
Bonus tip: Ask a friend what they would type in the search bar to find your item—this might give you a whole new perspective of how to position yourself.
2. Elevate your visuals
Great photos help capture attention and set you apart. Opt for bright, editorial-style images that feel polished and intentional. Use as many of the 20 photo slots you can but also remember to include a video of your item. Mix detail-focused shots with lifestyle images that show your product in use.
3. Build up your brand
We want to get to know you: who you are, what inspires you, how your shop came about, and what it means to you. A compelling ‘About’ section can often let us know exactly why you would be a good fit for certain campaigns. And while you’re at it, build a consistent brand around your story—from your shop banner to your social media pages. Everything should feel like it belongs together.
4. Provide a great buyer experience
When we choose shops for features, we don’t just consider aesthetics and products—we also look at what buyers have to say about you. Shipping on time, responding quickly, receiving positive reviews, and communicating clearly in your descriptions and FAQs would definitely increase your chances of getting featured.

·3 weeks agoThe thing that stands out most about my shop is the artistic quality of my work. I joined Etsy when it was mainly an art market. I used to sell at juried festivals, and I've kept up that level of quality, even as I've moved to pieces that are more geared to selling online.

·3 weeks agoWhat is the one thing about your shop that makes it stand out?
That's easy. Communication. Every order helps me realize my dream: To be home with my 2 Grandbabies, Lyla & Declan.
I include this image in every one of my listings because Every order is THE order for me. All as important as any other. I don't care if it's an $8 keychain or a $200 custom order-I treat them all the same. 5 Star review after 5 Star review mention this, quality and speed. I usually ship custom items within 1 day (as long as the person responds to my design questions!) We all have quality products-but I truly believe in creating relationships with my customers. I treat them like friends. I include little gifts in almost every package.
Thank you, Etsy for providing a great platform where handmade is celebrated & great customer support is recognized!

·1 month agoI am continually trying to improve my Etsy shop. I work full time and at the end of the day, the items I make are truly my stress reliever. They have gotten me through some pretty tough times! From losing my father to cancer and the depression I sank into, as well as the sheer amount of anxiety and stress that comes from working in the oilfield, the pressure felt is enormous and at times extremely overwhelming. This outlet has been a Blessing! I create each item by hand and having them be able to find loving homes is so rewarding and a good way to continually fund my stress relieving hobby. Plus this also helps me to be able to have the extra money to purchase from other small businesses. If my small business can help another small business out, it is truly a rewarding experience. Maybe it's being able to help Mom & Dad be able to take the family out to movies, help afford to pay a vet bill, or pay that grocery bill..... whatever it helps with, I honestly believe in paying it forward.
TheWonkyFox
·1 month agoMy business helps me fund the care of rescue foxes that I look after in sanctuary (Part of my background was at a wildlife hospital & then a fox rescue... My etsy shop means I can work from home with flexible hours to fit around my foxes needs, which is critical). I also manage our woodland property with wildlife in mind... my business is currently paying for some fruit hedges for the wildlife!!!
My customers ABSOLUTELY LOVE knowing that their purchase is making a real difference. When they leave a review, they don't just review the product, or the customer service... they review HOW THEY FEEL... and that is such a rewarding thing for me as well! A lot of them really relate to my passion for nature, and my handmade garlands are on brand with that theme.
And since I started sharing the ethos of my brand and my "why", my repeat buyer rate has rocketed!!

AysheMemoryMakers
·2 months agoAs a mom and dad, we’ve realized something simple but powerful: life moves incredibly fast.
Between work, responsibilities, school runs, and the everyday rush, many precious moments pass by before we truly have time to appreciate them. Yet the things we treasure most are often the little notes, drawings, handwritten messages, and memories shared by the people we love.
That’s why we started creating personalized laser-engraved keepsakes. Our goal wasn’t just to make products—it was to bring memories to life. We wanted to take the words our children write to us, the signatures of loved ones, special messages, and meaningful moments, and turn them into something we can see, touch, and use every day.
Every engraving tells a story. A child’s handwritten “I love you,” a family member’s note, or a cherished memory can become a lasting piece that stays close to your heart long after the moment has passed.
Through our Etsy shop, we hope to help others preserve their own memories and celebrate the people who matter most. Because at the end of the day, it’s not the busy schedules we remember—it’s the love, the connections, and the little moments that make life beautiful.
Thank you for being part of our journey and for allowing us to help bring your memories to life.

·2 months agoHello, thanks for giving me the opportunity to let you know why FSGDesigns is different and unique. I sell greeting cards and keepsake items. My stsore is a unique and different online Hallmark Card type store, but much better. My store stands out because I try to sell Artistic Emotion. My cards are not canva or clipart style cards, I create cards that are artistic and beautiful. Cards that people do not want to just read and throw away. They feel personal and artistic rather than commercial. I strive to include all cultures and I am creating several artistic lines of Keepsake greetings to inspire and encourage people. I believe my products inspire nostalgia, peace, inspiration, imagination, and reflection. I sell Collectible Art & Cards items that stand out because they are emotionally meaningful works of art instead of ordinary greeting cards.

PinupHeaven
·2 months agoPin-Up Heaven leads this moment: America's 250th birthday — July 4, 2026. A once-in-a-generation milestone that won't come again in any of our lifetimes.
At the heart of the collection is my hand-composed America 250 Seal — 38 U.S. landmarks, monuments, and patriotic symbols layered inside a stylized "250," with vintage Americana details and 1776–2026 commemorative elements woven throughout. Every piece rewards a closer look. The more you look, the more you find.
The America 250 line spans premium playing cards, commemorative drinkware, apparel, and party goods — all designed to feel display-worthy, gift-worthy, and conversation-starting. After July 4, 2026, these pieces become keepsakes of the anniversary itself: minted national artifacts.
Beyond America 250, Pin-Up Heaven blends patriotic symbolism, military aviation, glam fashion, and collectible design into work with a clear point of view — the kind of shop buyers screenshot and send to their group chats.
Etsy shoppers searching for America 250, Semiquincentennial, and 4th of July 2026 gifts deserve to find work made with this level of care. Veterans, history lovers, and patriotic gift-givers are already finding it. I'd be honored to be part of how Etsy celebrates the moment.
DigitalMarkitect
·3 months agoHello! My shop is more of a concept - Digital Markitect sells more than social media templates - it sells systems. I started this journey after years of hands-on experience as a Fractional CMO where I encountered the same problem again and again: chaotic marketing due to lack of structure and clarity.
And that's where I wanted to step in: the marketing world needs more structure, more clarity and, ironically... more simplicity, not overcomplication.
Feel free to take a look at my shop - which only has one listing for now.

·3 months agoGood health! I founded my own hat shop. We produce them ourselves. We made them to order for many celebrities. Since it is handmade, we only use premium natural materials. We have been on the market for a long time in our own country. And I don’t remember who told me about Etsy. I decided to try it. But not a single order for Sunday. So far, I’m in the red, although I don’t use paid services. Since I think we don’t need advertising, my label is premium quality and with a low price like a regular product. But I’m not ordinary, but elite! Thank you all for your time.

I realize I should be making videos more frequently as well. I just love making new originals and tend to put everything else off!

·3 months agoHi!
One thing that makes our shop stand out is that every piece is truly handmade, stitch by stitch — not mass-produced.
We focus on creating soft, safe amigurumi toys made from cotton yarn, designed to be a child’s first companion and a lasting memory.
As a new shop, we’re still learning and improving every day, especially in SEO and product presentation.
We’re currently working on better visuals and storytelling to reflect the real value of handmade work.
If anyone has advice on how to better communicate the “handmade difference,” we would really appreciate it 🙏
Wishing everyone continued growth and success!

https://www.etsy.com/shop/thelindgallery/?etsrc=sdt
I recently started my Etsy store specialising in digital downloads of wildlife/animal watercolour paintings. I think what sets us apart from other watercolorists is the emotion that our paintings evoke when seen large on someone’s wall. Our wildlife watercolor collection stands out for its cinematic presence and emotional depth, capturing each animal with bold expression and lifelike detail.
We try every combination of atmospheric lighting, rich textures, and dramatic contrast to give every piece a gallery‑grade, collectible feel. Each painting blends expressive watercolor movement with fine, realistic precision, creating artwork that fits beautifully in modern, rustic, western, boho, or minimalist interiors. Together, the series forms a cohesive body of work centered on powerful wildlife—big cats, birds of prey, and other striking creatures—painted with intention, reverence, and a signature style that’s ours.
Since I am relatively new and still trying to get things rolling for my shop, I would love everyone’s feedback and suggestions from this amazing group. Thus far I have only had 10 sales, I would be incredibly grateful if you could take a look at my shop and share any feedback or tips.

Whether it's a birthday surprise, a Valentine's Day gift, a wedding keepsake, or just a creative way to say "you mean the world to me" — our cards are designed to make people feel special in the most unique and unforgettable way possible.
Every single card is handcrafted with incredible attention to detail. From custom stats and abilities that reflect the person's real personality, to carefully chosen artwork and colors — no two cards are ever alike, because no two people are ever alike.

VarniyaLifestyles
·4 months agoI didn’t start making swaddles as a “product idea.”
It actually came from noticing how something as simple as softness can completely change how a baby feels - calmer, safer… more settled.
There’s something really special about those quiet moments - when a baby finally relaxes, or falls asleep peacefully - and as small as it sounds, the fabric they’re wrapped in becomes part of that moment.
That’s what I try to focus on.
Not just how it looks, but how it feels - light, breathable, gentle on delicate skin… something you’d genuinely feel good using every day.
And adding a baby’s name to it makes it a little more personal - like it belongs to them from day one.
I’m still growing, still learning… but I’m trying to build something that feels honest, simple, and comforting in its own way.
If it resonates with you, you can take a look here:

DelicaciesJewelry
·5 months agoDelicacies Jewelry creates meaningful food-inspired jewelry and we don't take ourselves too seriously. But over the course of 11 years have been slowly, quietly and intentionally donating to fight hunger with every single purchase. And that quite intent, one foot in front of the other is what has helped us donate over 1.1 million meals, providing healthy, nutritious meals to people in need. So while we love to ask ridiculous questions like "Would you wear a BUTTER NECKLACE?" or "Are you obsessed with Pasta jewelry?" or "Are you Team Sprinkles or Team Glaze?" The true meaning behind our brand is the satisfaction that comes from knowing Delicacies Jewelry -- AND ALL OUR CUSTOMERS -- are slowly, steadily making a difference.
As Desmond Tutu famously said: "Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world." What is your favorite food? Food memory? Let us know!?

I’ve built a loyal following and consistently earn 5-star reviews from customers who value genuine vintage items, complete with their patina and scuffs. Growing up in the ’60s and ’70s with parents who appreciated vintage taught me what to look for early on, and now, in my 60s, I still vividly remember seeing those treasures when I was young.

crochiquedesigns
·5 months agoHi Mary, Thank you for some great advice.
What stands out in my shop https://www.etsy.com/shop/crochiquedesigns is the authenticity and ethnic niche of the items that has buyers loving their purchases and then returning to purchase again.
I would love some more insights on how to improve and expand my Etsy Shop.
Thank you in advance.
ExplorewithMomo
·5 months ago · EditedHi Mary, thank you for the helpful tips. In my shop, we create printable coloring, tracing, and activity pages for toddlers and early learners. What makes it unique is that my husband and I are building a small learning world centered around an adorable fox named Momo, who helps guide children as they explore animals and the world around them. Our goal is to create a growing collection of animals and activities with a consistent style and a simple, playful approach to early learning. 🦊

·5 months agoThanks Mary, struggling myself but the thing that makes my shop https://everythinglined.etsy.com stand out would be the focus on little niche issues. Most of it comes from stuff I've done around my house and want to share.
Happy for feedback!

·5 months agoHi Mary,
I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your Etsy success tips in the forum. As someone who’s still building and learning, posts like yours are incredibly helpful and motivating. It’s great to hear from sellers who are willing to share real experience and advice.
Your tips on consistency, improving listings, and understanding how Etsy works really helped me rethink how I approach my shop.
I recently launched a small shop inspired by cozy gamer culture called Love & Pixels. It features designs based on the adventures of two characters, Gamer Boy and Gamer Kitty, turning everyday life into a co-op video game.
If you're curious, you can check it out here:

What's something that makes my shop stand out?
Everything in my shop comes from real-life experiences. The travel guides are based on how my husband and I actually travel — carry-on only and learning to slow down and enjoy every moment. I also create pieces that are really personal to me, inspired by my faith and my journey living with MS.

I’m actually just getting started with my shop, and my goal is to create beautiful, easy-to-edit Canva templates for baby showers and celebrations. I love designing invitations and matching party pieces that help people create special moments without needing graphic design skills.
Instead of spending hours trying to design something from scratch, my templates allow parents and hosts to simply open the design in Canva, personalize the details, and have something ready to print or send digitally within minutes. I focus on creating designs that feel modern, cute, and memorable — like cherry-themed baby showers, gingham patterns, and coquette-inspired styles.
Since I’m still new, my hope is to continue growing the shop by adding more themed invitation suites and celebration templates that make party planning easier and more fun for families. It’s exciting to build something creative while helping others celebrate meaningful moments.
Thanks again for all the advice and inspiration for new shop owners!
