Happy Friday, Etsy shop owners! My name is Christine and I’m a product marketer here at Etsy.

The holiday season starts early on Etsy! That’s because shoppers from around the globe come to the site looking for festive fall finds and seasonal decor to add some oomph to the everyday. Today I’m sharing a few things you can do to help expand your reach and connect with customers over the next few months. Be sure to head to the Seller Handbook to check out our complete 2023 holiday checklist—it’s packed with tips and resources you can reference all season long.

Want to get the word out about your shop? Check these off your to-do list this week:

Join Etsy Share & Save: It’s a new way to save on fees when you drive sales to your shop. When you share trackable links to your shop or listings and make a sale, we’ll take 4% of the order total off your Etsy bill. Use your unique link on social media, when texting your friends—whenever you share your shop or listings.

Add #FestiveEtsyFinds to your Instagram post for a chance to be featured on the @Etsy Instagram: When you’re promoting your shop this holiday season, add #FestiveEtsyFinds. If you catch the eye of our team, we’ll re-share your post on the @etsy Instagram—where we have more than 3 million followers! If you’re opted in to Share & Save and you add your trackable link to your post, you’ll save on fees for any eligible sales you make from being featured!
Schedule a Cyber sale to reach deal-seeking shoppers: Big sale occasions like Cyber week make shopping a little more exciting for customers. Make sure your Etsy shop is part of the fun by scheduling a sale for October 23 to November 29. We recommend offering at least 25 percent off. Schedule your sale here. Looking for more info on pricing your items so you still have room to offer discounts? Check out our Ultimate Guide to Pricing.
Create repeat customers with special offers: Discounts, coupons, and other kinds of special offers can help you grow your audience and catch shoppers’ attention, clear out unsold inventory, and encourage shoppers to keep coming back. We’ve created all kinds of discounting tools, designed to help you meet your unique goals.
- Make an Offer: Clear out stale inventory or make sales you might have missed by allowing price offers from buyers on listings of your choice. FYI: Make an offer is currently available for shops who sell in USD.
- Thank You Coupons: Send an offer to a buyer after their order ships to thank them for their business and encourage them to purchase from your shop again.
- Abandoned Cart Coupons: Send an offer to buyers who’ve added items from your shop to their cart and nudge them to check out.
- Favorited Items Coupons: Turn buyer interest into a sale by sending an offer when buyers favorite one of your items.

Thank you for the helpful advice.

Should we be making more holiday specific items? For example, using the holiday colors or making things with snowflakes, and gnomes?

My prices are already so low that offering 25% would not give a profit unless I raised my prices. It is difficult to know what works best.

Thanks for the information. It does encourage me to keep going. My shop sells handmade crochet items, each item made by myself, one stitch at a time. Most items on my listings takes hours of work and if I charged for my time the cost would be so high to purchase no one would support my small business. I wish everyone would realize the true value of items handmade. With a 25% off sale now I am looking forward to more business during the Christmas season.

I created an Etsy 2 years ago but didn’t do much with it until 2 months ago and I’m glad I did! I now sell Tumbler Wrap Designs (Downloads). With your efforts I am sure many sellers will benefit greatly!

After a record-breaking September for sales, my views and sales have dropped to almost zero! Not sure what happened, but I’m doing everything I can to promote the shop and adding new fresh items and praying for late bloom! Hate that I have to drop prices so much that I’m making below minimum wage on handmade items. Sweatshop working conditions, here we come!

And using #FestiveEtsyFinds on Instagram is a smart move to get featured on @Etsy's Instagram with millions of followers. The Cyber sale suggestion for October 23 to November 29 is timely, and I'll definitely consider it. Help me please. I set up a Cyber sale using the link, but then decided to change the discount percentage. Since it is impossible to make changes to the current sale, I closed it. And when you try to set up a new Cyber sale again, the link does not provide this option. Please tell me how this can be done. Thank you

Thank you so much I must admit I have been trying to get help with my listings since I started my journey into AI using my art to prompt then actually explain what I wanted. I had to take classes on U tube to learn, but once I understood the logistics I have to say I love it almost as much as actually painting and making products by hand it makes results so fast. I am thinking of how to offer price discounts when I already offer free shipping unless I announce the end of free shipping on January 1st.

I am considering adding a bonus item that is seasonal and won't push up the weight over the 1 ounce limit for most of my items.
