Etsy Insights: How to Build a Brand That Stands Out on Etsy
Hi everyone,
Divya here from Etsy’s Seller Marketing team! I've spent a lot of time at Etsy working with buyers and sellers, capturing the stories of how they connect and what keeps people coming back to the shops they love.
When sellers think about branding, they often start with visuals. A polished logo or cohesive color palette can help your shop look professional, but that is only one piece of the puzzle. A brand that truly stands out on Etsy is built through consistency across every buyer touchpoint.
Your brand is shaped by every interaction a buyer has with your shop. From discovery to delivery, each touchpoint builds how buyers remember you.
In my experience, the strongest brands focus on three areas:
1. Visual identity
Your product photos, shop banner, and overall style create your first impression. Clear, consistent visuals help buyers understand your style and recognize your listings in search.

2. Voice and story
Your about section, listing descriptions, and messages give your shop personality. This is where you build connections and communicate what makes your shop unique.

3. Customer experience
Clear communication, reliable shipping, and thoughtful service build trust. Over time, strong reviews and repeat buyers become part of your brand.

The shops that stand out are not always the loudest. They are the most consistent. Every detail works together to create a clear and reliable experience.
What’s one thing that makes a brand memorable for you? Tell us in the comments below.

·1 week agoOne of the best pieces of advice I was given when I first started was, "Once you've got the visuals and the wording to a good standard, just get the listing live." At the time it felt completely wrong because I wanted to keep tweaking everything until it was perfect.
Six years later, I'm still tweaking, still learning and still trying to improve. I've realised there probably isn't a perfect listing or a finished brand.
Looking after customers has always been the part I've found easiest because I genuinely want people to have a good experience. Everything else, photography, branding, listings, social media - has been a learning curve and still is.
I don't think any of us ever get to the point where we've "finished". We just keep making small improvements as we go.

·3 weeks agoI am still working on that - consistency across every buyer touchpoint - I am having a hard time trying to pick one theme and go with it. I though that being in Florida and having my pictures taken on a shell would be great, but it is very limiting. I would love to see Etsy's video of different examples of building brand consistency, especially for handmade one-of-a-kind shops (or vintage). Thank you for sharing this :)

·3 weeks agoFor me, a memorable brand is one that feels consistent on an emotional level — where every detail carries the same quiet message.
In my own work, I try to stay anchored in a few core ideas:
intentional, organic, timeless, emotional, and quietly bold.
It means creating pieces that are not just decorative, but carry meaning and presence — organic forms instead of perfect symmetry, a sense of longevity beyond trends, and emotions that people can connect their own stories to.
Not loud, but recognizable. Not perfect, but alive.
I think that kind of consistency is what makes a brand stay with you.
