Etsy Insights: Etsy Design Awards Preparation
Hi everyone!
We’re AdrianMartinus, last year’s winners of the Etsy Design Awards!
Our company consists of brothers Adrian and Martinus Pool, and Anne Tranholm Pool.
We were founded back in 2012. As carpenters we were frustrated with the construction material waste we encountered on worksites. And being skateboarders, we set out to incorporate recycling skateboards.
We started working in our parent’s garage and turning recycled wood and skateboards (donated by friends and local skate shops) into products. Today, working with skateboards has become our main focus and the material that steers our design aesthetic. We have grown into a fully integrated design studio and our company now houses two brands.
AdrianMartinus focuses on handcrafted, custom-built furniture, art and exclusive homewares. And Pool Product Design, a collaboration with Danish artist and designer Anne Tranholm, offers small-batch home goods, décor, and accessories at accessible price points.
Our winning design was our Stackton credenza!
Here are a few tips on how we prepared our entry for the Awards:
Photos
We prepared the listing by using all ten listing photos, including styled scene shots, detail shots from different angles, and by adding a quick process video of how we make our credenzas. Listing videos are a great idea to show your process in a dynamic way, so we would definitely recommend using that feature!
Listing description
A short intriguing description that outlines your product’s features to start, is a great way to introduce your item! Remember to include your product’s material(s) and dimensions in the ‘Highlights’ section of the listing. It definitely doesn’t hurt to outline this info in the listing description too.
Branding
Have a look through the overall look of your shop. Are your products and photos cohesive and do you have a shop banner that represents your shop nicely? Fill out your About section, use the photo and listing video options, as well as Etsy’s ‘Updates’ feature. Perhaps you want to feature some highlights of the product you enter for the Awards, to showcase your process or detail shots!
How are you all getting your shops ready for this year's Etsy Design Awards?
Thank you!
