Celebrate and thank a seller for their support
Hi everyone,
In the Etsy Community, we regularly see sellers support each other through the ins and outs of managing an Etsy shop. It’s that tried and true, real world advice sellers share with each other that makes our community so special. This week, join us in celebrating and recognizing our community contributors by telling us about a time when another seller has supported you and your shop this past year. Your story may have a chance to be featured!

·4 years ago@@LemonDaisyOffice gave me a critique on my etsy listing. I took her advice on what she was describing and the same day I had a sale!
Thank you so much for your generosity. Hope to help the community in return.

·4 years agoWithout Missy Sheldrake at https://www.etsy.com/shop/FairyDawn, I wouldn't have started an Etsy shop. I am going to be a newbie for a long time, but she definitely gave me some pointers to start me in the right direction without being pushy or pedantic! It also helps that she's so sweet and that I love her work and writing!

·4 years agoMore than support, I inspired from an ETSY seller. She was working so hard and moving forward too slow. It was really surprised to me, because this was more than a job. This was a passionate.. Thank you.. (I can't share her name, until she let me do :)..)

·4 years agoI had an incridible buying experience with a fellow Etsy peep. What happened was, I ordered a bracelet from AgateBeachcomber. Shortly after wearing the bracelet a few times, one of the stones fell out I contacted AgateBeachcomber & they made things right...& then some! Not only did they send me another bracelet, they sent a matching necklace, too!!! Not only that, it was beautifully & carefully wrapped up in boxes & wrapping & even some garnish. I was taken aback by the kindness of this shopkeeper & it has inspired me to strive to be a more thankful shopowner-thankful for my customers, shop platform & fellow shop owners. AgateBeachcomber went above & beyond making ME feel appreciated as a customer & that meant A LOT to me

·4 years agoMetamorphoza has supported me, by being inspiring and encouraging my clothing line, and pointing out that my jewellery is particularly nice, risking not sending messages even though they are star sellers and willing to take my actuarial and retail business advice for steady income on Etsy.
I have purchased 3 facemasks and a top from them.
Thank you.

·4 years agoHello everyone, I have started my jewelry shop on Etsy in 2019. Many sellers unknowingly helped me through their beautiful shop and have inspired me to work hard. Lately, I got to know about the Etsy Community and the discussions here are very helpful and share needful tips.

·4 years agoWhen I opened my shop at Etsy, I did not take it seriously. After two years, a friend of mine that he had already a successful shop, taught me how to organise my shop. When he was learning something new immediately was sharing this knowledge with me. Thank you GUSFREE.

·4 years agoI've been on Etsy for over a year now, but the sales haven't been very successful yet. But I do not despair and hope that everything is still ahead.
But during this time sellers from my country - Ukraine helped me. They were the ones who gave me advice and support.
It was difficult for me to figure out the delivery from Ukraine to the United States, because I wanted the parcels to arrive to customers as soon as possible, despite the long distance between the countries. But my friends told me how to do it right. For which I am very grateful to them.
Good luck everyone!

·4 years agoFrom the beginning, I relied on a salesperson who writes a blog with tips on how to work with Etsy. All the information you need is there. there are also sellers who blog on YouTube. You can find a lot of useful information there too.

·4 years agoOne year ago I began making journals and decided to sell my crochet work. I worked long nights in a factory, and did my crafting in the few hours I had. I had posted large journals and a seller named Lynn messaged me suggesting I make smaller books, so I could add inventory more often. After that I began to make sales! I have been losing my vision and during numerous surgeries. My art and my shop became precious tto me. I will remember two things, the seller who took a moment to reach out and the lady who purchased one of my journals from the hundreds of beautiful books on Etsy.com.

·4 years agoI think that the person who helped me the first time and taught me everything is no longer on Etsy, but his help for me with no previous relationship between us makes me remember him for good. I wish him the best in his life and am grateful for everything he taught me to be on Etsy has given my life such wonderful meaning and purpose.

·4 years agoThere were actually several times that I got help from a seller, for many reasons. What I did not get is a resolution to a problem that I still have from the TECHNICAL department, after so many promises from managers from Etsy support, which I have contacted like 10 times from September.
When I run sales , a particular category of my fidget rings , on many of them the add to cart button disappears. The message shown says you can browse but you can not purchase right now. Try later. But it does not appear. That means that I can not run sales for these products, which is really disappointing.

·4 years agoI would love to nominate Heidi @Montanavintagemarket as a seller who has helped me to improve my shop. She taught me about social media posting and Etsy ads to drive traffic to my shop. Her ideas for pinning my Etsy listing in Pinterest really increased traffic flow. Her shops photos are amazing and inspiring. Thank you Heidi for coming alongside me and guiding me! Michelle

·4 years agoSellers do help! For example, they ask us about sold out options which lets us know when variants are out of stock. For some reason Etsy does not notify us when items in a variation are out of stock. We are only notified where there are no variants, or ALL the variants are sold out. We have to check each item one by one. For 700 listings takes unnecessary time away from focusing on sales!

·4 years agoVero!

·4 years agoI was looking for fabric to finish creating an order for my customer. My fabric was a vintage tartan plaid flannel and I knew it would be almost impossible to find. After spending hours driving around town and searching the internet, Etsy led me to the perfect shop - Thistle & Stitch! Jamie was more than willing to help a fellow Etsy seller out of a bind. I am so grateful. The fabric is exactly what I needed. Thanks again, Jaime !! You made my day and allowed me to make my customer happy, also.

·4 years agoThank you! I am totally new as a seller here on Etsy (Seller of Men & Women's Clothing), and I am struggling to find out how to actually get people to my shop and make a purchase. Been open about five months now and it is slow boat to India. I see others in the same categoryas me and they have fewer items and are selling like crazy. Talking thousands of sales within a few couple of months. I Have sold 20 items! Where are they getting traffic from? Their Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter profiles or other marketing tools in use outside of Etsy? I have hoped I could ask these questions directly to Etsy support. Perhaps anybody here can help?

I was lucky to find someone (whose name and Shop I now cannot recall - I am now 81, and finding names difficult to process even off line! ) who basically took my hand and showed me how to work a Shop on line. ·4 years ago@SusanaBermejoStudio Looking at your Forum activity, it appears you have contributed a comment or two to other people's Threads, but have not asked specifically for assistance by beginning your own Thread.
If you would like a Shop Critique, then you should start your own Thread requesting assistance.
If you have other questions, do the same.
People will assist you, but most people do not usually reply in detail to someone who posts within another person's thread as that takes the discussion away from the OP's question / issue

·4 years agoI am a newbie who worked at Etsy for a whole year.
Opening a store, I knew absolutely nothing about working at Etsy. There were a lot of questions, I got lost in them. The seller Ludmila (oLaLaVintage) helped me. Thanks to her I got my first sales very quickly. I am grateful to my first customers who believed me.
In the first year of work, there is not enough knowledge, skills, so you do everything slowly and there is not enough pace in your work. Now I see that a lot of necessary information can be found on the forums.
I want to thank all the sellers who supported me - thank you very much! I still have a lot to learn. It is very important when you feel that you are also on the Etsy team.

·4 years agoThere was one very practical advice that I received from one of the sellers who also purchased an item from my store. The advice was that I should get a free business card from a post office in Vancouver, Canada, which would give me a discount on shipments locally and abroad. I ordered one online and was using it ever since. Apparently, it has been reducing my cost significantly and I am very thankful to the seller, who gave me this advice, until this very day!

·4 years ago@MKGEMSJEWELERS It is incredibly thoughtless and rude, and also against the rules for participation in Forums, to interrupt another person's post with promotional posts.
It is even more thoughtless when one considers that the Post was begun by an Etsy Community Specialist inviting other Forum Members to discuss how we help each other!

·4 years agoIt can not be understated the importance that other supportive etsy sellers have played in my life during this pandemic. I have reached out to total strangers on the etsy platform, who have provided emotional and material support at crucial times. Without the help of well meaning and supportive active etsy sellers...things would have been pretty bleak. The platform really does attract good people, which can not be said about the many other seller platforms I have briefly interacted with.

·4 years agoWhen I first opened my store, I was dreaming like everyone else, "Oh my god, I'm going to sell right away, it's going to be like this, bla bla blaa", of course I was disappointed at the end of month. There were no sales "I still only have one sale" anyway.. I wrote to the sellers group, What am I doing wrong? Where is my problem? And I communicated with 2 people who really motivated me a lot. Your kind and constructive comments made me happy. Thank you so much to them again. @MaggieandRose and @CreativeDesignsbyAmi THANK YOU.

·4 years agoI just received a negative review from a customer. I was shocked to say the least, since I was ready and willing to make her happy at all costs. The I received a horrible message from her, though I won't go into details about that here. I suppose I needed to vent because my first thought was how hard I've worked since January 2020 to get to where I am today, and I needed someone to reassure me that this wouldn't devastate a very new business. The other sellers did just that. They were kind, but direct in letting me know that I should just wipe it off, because some people are truly out to take advantage of others in similar situations to my own, ie., new shop wanting to please at all costs. From this point forward I plan to work diligently to encourage buyers to READ DESCRIPTIONS before buying. I need to determine the best method for doing this, because space in a title is a at a premium. If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them. I thought of creating a card type reminder to insert at the end of each photo set encouraging them to read the details before making a purchase. I wonder if this would work.

·4 years agoI have gotten such wonderful advice and suggestions, that have really helped my shop from so many of my fellow sellers on these forums.
Thank for helping with technical issues and marketing development. Great help from experience selling shops.
Borg4Borg
·4 years agoTwo sellers were major influences on my shop.
Su Zi hosts Red Mare Press on Etsy. The books she makes are incredible: textual art, hand-stitched with Italian paper. She asked if she could turn my poems into a chapbook. At first I didn't think so. It was early pandemic. Everything was weird. But I like Su Zi's press, so I found the poems. Gave them to her. Red Mare put out my chapbook, "Give It to Alfie Tonight."
It sold out in 48 hours.
I was like, "Woah. This is very unexpected." And I was also thinking, "I need to reconsider Etsy. I might want to host my production company, Borg4Borg, on Etsy. Could I do that?"
The second seller who helped me is Universal Error. That shop is run by Chelsea Martin, a visionary graphic novelist and writer. Chelsea happens to be a friend and I always thought it was cool she had an Etsy shop. But I figured it would be too complex for me to start one.
I called Chelsea up. I said, "On a scale of 1 to 10, how hard is it to open a shop on Etsy?"
Chelsea said, "Oh you can open a shop tonight. It's user-friendly."
So that got me over my intimidation. And it got me thinking that my production company, Borg4Borg, needed a home. Now Borg4Borg's home is on Etsy.
Huge thanks to my friends & their shops. I wouldn't be here without them.
Borg4Borg's one year anniversary on Etsy is around the corner. Do visit us!

·4 years agoHello there
My involvement with this platform was thanks to another vendor and it was hard to believe for me. Could I really? I'm still not a seller at the level I want, but the person I mentioned has guided me a lot in this sense and there is no monetary value for this. I will always be grateful to him and my clients who support me. This is the most amazing thing for Etsy community, They love to help and support each other, Connection is so pure and friendly between sellers. I think Etsy has one of the best communities out there !

·4 years agoI've thought about a previous comment for a bit, because it keeps getting likes.
And I don't want it to be taken the wrong way.
When I said that the idea of this forum is that myriad sellers are helping each other thrive and grow, then yes, absolutely.
But so that Etsy can save money on staff, nah.
Etsy is spending so much money on TV ads and YT ads, in Germany, that I'm impressed.
The chat is so excellent. There's always somebody there, when the community can't help. I'm so thankful for that!
Only yesterday I reached out with a big grievance, and a short while after, I was contacted by a specialist team and shown a screenshot, that the problem is gone. Happy dance!
And this community isn't only a treasure chest of knowledge and experience from allover the world. Bonds are being created that I treasure.
Yesterday, I asked 2 sellers for help before I reached out to Etsy. They immediately replied and told me what they were seeing on their end of the world.
I said I don't want to mention any names, to avoid disappointment to the others, but thank you, in AUS. If you read this, you know I'm talking about you. Do you sell flying carpets, by any chance?
And you in Germany, too. You always make me laugh.
Enough said, only this, last but not least:
I don't know if any of the Etsy Oldtimers still remember that we used to call ourselves "Etsians".
As a newbie, I was so proud of now being an "Etsian".
I still am.
Thank you for making this marketplace a place that feels like "home".
Everybody.
Etsy and sellers and buyers.
You all make a difference.

·4 years agoThank you so much for this post and oportunity to share! In my story today i’ll be speaking of the last December-January,regards a seller i won’t be sharing the name. Her shop is selling the same thing,is a famous one,and she has lots of buyers/followers on Etsy and IG.My shop had just began in August last year, but ever since,it grew steadily with sales, followers and customer’s trust.I was told she’d done the same to other sellers and it worked apparently,by some of my customers and other sellers here, but in my case it did not.She posted my shop’s name, pictures and said negative stuff about my little shop(back then),so that her buyers or even buyers we shared won’t support me anymore,on IG-but what she’s gotten with it was for her buyers and other new buyers to check my etsy shop out,see my impeccable reviews and try out my services, and become my regular customers..I was destroyed in the first days, but seeing the result shocked me as much as I believe it did her!I found it was a blessing in disguise, and believe it or not,I Am Grateful for herAnd also to Etsy support at that time, the team helping me to keep my spirits high was empathic, patient and held my back as I did not imagine.I love you guys so much!!Maria-Harmony Collection Boutique

·4 years agoI would like to thank everyone who has helped me. One vendor encouraged me so much when I first started. We even talked to each other on the phone. She has been a vendor longer than I have and she graciously told me what worked best for her. I honored her opinion then, and I honor her opinion, now. Even though we sell similar items, I feel it is no threat to either business because we both are pleased. I was also helped by another vendor who brought to my attention of a shipping error for out of the country; and, I am so thankful to her for telling me and I was able to correct the situation. I am very thankful to all; even though I do not interact as much as I probably need to.

·4 years agoI would like to acknowledge that is was a BUYER who helped me with my shop. In my announcement I said "Free shipping after you pay it on the first item." Well she came back a week later with another order and questioned why she did not get free shipping for it!. Oops, Her reason was rational and I refunded the shipping and changed my announcement immediately! Thank you for saving me a whole pile of confusion! I have to admit, looking at it now, it is a little bit funny.

·4 years agoMany sellers have helped me…especially in the beginning. One seller in 2014, started an SEO course team. As a team, we studied Etsy’s SEO materials, talked about them, as a team, then helped each other put SEO into practice. We actually had weekly assignments and goals. We also gave each other honest shop critiques, which helped me make improvements.

·4 years agoMikeKrausArt - was really helpful and lifted spirits with my shop. But his advice was invaluable. First he adviced me about the mask I have listed and have not sold "1" since manufacturers showed up on Etsy was back in April. I am so busy sewing, getting items ready or taking pictures that it takes me for ever to list anything. He said, that this being the busiest time of the year I should do more listings and sew later. That made sense. I have pictures ready to list and in trying to get things for the design sewing shops I have neglected the vintage items I already have ready. But since then - I've paid more attention to my shop and that has lifted my spirits so much more. At my age the people you want to motivate you are all retired - LOL and just not that interested. Having the motivated sellers; young, and more mature/seniors come forward out of the blue really helps I see and I do appreciate what Mike did. He had to take time out of his work to get me moving. Thank you Mike.

·4 years agoAt the beginning I wasn't sure of anything. I started out thinking I was going to be the next new loaf of bread that everybody would want. Well that went stale. I was only doing this as a hobby. But I became friends with a few Etsy store owners and I asked them for suggestions and much needed advise and HELP!. They guided me, instructed, taught, nurtured, coached, and encouraged me. I will be forever grateful to those mentors. Today I do the same. When I see a store that is struggling, I offer advise if I can. I pay it forward to make a difference.

·4 years agoI've thought about this and was sitting on the fence whether or not to respond. Frankly while many sellers offer valuable advice from time to time they often also offer advice or information that is false or misleading. I don't think there is anyone who truly is that one special communicator. In fact sometimes the ones who feel they have the pulse of Etsy can be overwhelming and even disallow for dissent or differing opinions.
But beyond that, this is no longer really a community. It's much too large to have that sense of community. It's a falsehood that Etsy like any large entity such as cities and medical places, etc. tries to keep alive. Etsy you are now a large corporation that cannot be involved in the little tiny details of every shop. It's time to step away from trying to portray this as a community and change it into what it really ought to be. More of a help desk with actual Etsy employees taking time to steer sellers correctly. It can still be sharing information, concerns or even polite rants from sellers. It needs to be reinvented, reorganized and staffed better.
Not sure how best to really say it over all so forgive me if this post lacks direction.

·4 years agoThanks going out to the many helpful and thoughtful posters here. It's good to see people take the time to provide useful information. I even want to thank the ones who have been rude and unprofessional. Those have reminded me to be kind even when I'm not having a good day.

·4 years agoI knew nothing of Etsy let alone online selling when I started in 2018. Heck I never even bought much online ( by choice) until on a whimp I listed an item here and it sold (to my huge surprise). So I have had numerous very helpful support here for which I am hugely grateful. Thank you all
This doesn’t however replace Etsy’s barely existent customer support - I would call it free riding on the back of supportive community if Etsy is using these badges to pass on their responsibility to help their customers to unpaid voluntary community supporters. If you want to use them, then ask and pay them for their time and knowledge. I often had better results asking here than even on the phone when they had it.
Why is Etsy onboarding sellers if they can’t handle the volume. Look at Apple, even they manage to help you with the volume they have.

·4 years agoTo be honest I was amazed when I saw the Etsy Post from Iridesent. Yes, absolutely, there are wonderful sellers on these forums who have gone out of their way, time and time again, to be helpful. Their encouragement and knowledge - and help! has been invaluable to me, and to many of us here. And I am beyond thankful for them.
But for Etsy Admin to aim focus on the help that Sellers have given to each other - when Etsy Admin are unreachable, or only respond with cut-and-paste generalities and often NEVER help - is beyond comprehension. We PAY Etsy. We deserve attentive and helpful responses when we have serious questions. And so often, we don't get that help.
How dare they deflect attention from their inadequacies? Do they think we won't notice? I just don't get it.
