OP10 months agoThe ART Party is on Reddit! Join us while Etsy Teams and Forums are closed!
Etsy has announced that starting October 15, our Team pages and Forums will go into read-only mode until at least October 23. That means no posting, no promo games, and no way to stay connected during that time. But this doesn’t have to be goodbye; it’s just the start of our next great chapter!
We’ve already built our new creative home on Reddit, and it’s buzzing with life! Artists are sharing their work, joining the games, making sales, and keeping the energy flowing. The setup is fresh, easy, and full of opportunities to boost your shop traffic and meet other makers.
Join us now:
https://www.reddit.com/r/TheARTteam/comments/1mog4wu/ready_to_boost_your_shop_jump_into_the_games_and/
Let’s make this move together and show the world that creativity always finds a way. The ART Team spirit is alive and thriving. See you on Reddit!

OP1 year ago@ZaverDesigns We're always considering adjusting games. Right now, we don't offer a daily BlueSky game because there's not enough ARTteam members (that we know of) on it currently. Or time to manage another game. But, we do have similar activities at:

OP1 year ago@ZaverDesigns You're so kind and amazing. We're so happy you're here!
1) We remove SEVERAL members daily for repeated violations. But, I will admit it could be better and there's a few reason for this:
a) I do give multiple warnings (especially for newer shops) before banning. So, it may take a few days before removal.
b) Etsy provides NO moderation tools. So, Captains and Leaders may never know a violation occurs.
c) Some shops are able to evade bans. They are banned and no longer members, but Etsy still allows them to participate.
d) Also, I was banned from being the Captain of the ARTteam from May 2024-2025 because I lightly criticized the bad design of their current item listing form. During that time, no moderation took place at all. This allowed lots of spammers and antisocial shops to overwhelm the ARTteam page. Etsy invited me back as Captain. And since then, I've been cleaning up/replacing threads that have been harmed. With no moderation tools, it's a manual process of removing each violation one-by-one in a slow and multi-step process.
e) There's a rumor that Etsy is in the process of making "updates/changes" to the Etsy Community. And I hope you tell them you'd like to see many improvement that we've discussed at: community@etsy.com
2) Twitter was removed as a supported platform because it's bad for business. The platform is mostly bots causing data theft, website performance degradation, fraud, and reputation damage. Abandoning the platform was to protect the ARTteam Community
3) Here is the new best practices, issues, tips, and tricks thread: https://community.etsy.com/t5/art/ART-TEAM-FORUM-Best-Practices-Issues-Tips-and-Tricks/m-p/148739601/thread-id/5087187

·1 year agoThank you for this wonderful ART team! A few observations/suggestions from my end though I know it can be a challenge given the size and other dynamics
Remove/block repeat members who don't play fair in the threads. It is unfair to those who follow the rules.
We now have pinterest, instagram daily threads, if we could also do twitter?
A thread to discuss or share best practices, issues, tips and tricks
Thank you again

·1 year agoHi Mike,
Regarding your advice for @Balallajewellery — that more listings (reaching 150 products) = more traffic = more sales — does this apply to all categories, or is it only relevant for jewelry sellers?
My shop includes items like t-shirts, mugs, tote bags, and tea towels...
Thank you in advance for your response, Mike.

OP1 year ago@ceramicartneslihan That applies to all shops.
What is unclear, is does it apply if you have multiples of items. For example, what if you have 150 of the same mugs in one listing-does that count?

·1 year agoWelcome to all the new shops! Mike is right the more sales you have the more sales you'll get. The first few are the hardest but hang in and definitely do as many activities as you can. They really do help generate views to your shop and improve your algorithms. It's about being found and your search results will improve. Mike is also right about social media, it's very important. I visited your shops and faved some items. Good luck to everyone!

OP1 year ago@Balallajewellery We're so happy you're here! And please feel free to ask any questions. And the first post of each thread explains our activities.
5) CONGRATS on your 1st sale. That's a really good first step. The Summer is historically a slow time for Etsy sales (especially this year because of tariffs and anti-Democracy politics). So, it's a great time to keep making and adding new jewelry to your shop. More jewelry = more traffic = more sales. Once you have 150 items, Etsy will boost promotions for your shop. This is very helpful as we enter the very busy holiday season (October - December)
With that said, what are you doing to invite people to your shop? When you post on social media networks, are you including links to your jewelry?

·1 year agoHello, I'm new here, but I'm grateful to be part of this group!!
1) I think the purpose is incredible and very good to help new sellers
2) I don't really know how this works, but I try to follow, post and help other members as much as I can.
3) I like that it is a group in which we support and help each other
4) That at first it was a little difficult for me to understand how everything worked
5) My biggest challenge is sales, although I have visits, I can't make sales, I try to make ads and promote it on networks, but I can't get sales
6) That it is an incredible group and that it helps sellers
7) I can't think of anything
Thank you very much for everything everyone!

Not quite sure what the purpose is honestly other than networking of some kind.
2) What could we do to make you feel more connected with others? Just people giving pointers on improving sales is a good starting point.
3) What do you like the most? advice from more experienced sellers
4) What do you like the least? I can't think of a least here
5) What is your biggest challenge and how can we help? Get sales going. Been near zero for a year.
6) What would encourage you to invite friends, family, and colleagues to the ARTteam? If I had friends, family or collegues that were "makers" I'd have no problem inviting them.
7) Is there anything that would make the ARTteam better? Not sure, what is all the talk about posting links and private listings. I have no idea what you mean by that. Here is a linknto my shop if that's what you mean

1) How do you feel about the ARTteam’s purpose?
Not quite sure what the purpose is honestly other than networking of some kind.
The ARTteam is a mutual support group of Etsy shops helping Etsy shops. And our goal is to help everyone who participates find success.
2) What could we do to make you feel more connected with others? Just people giving pointers on improving sales is a good starting point.
A good place to get started is on our Welcome New Members page at: https://community.etsy.com/t5/art/WELCOME-NEW-MEMBERS-OF-THE-ART-TEAM/m-p/139228997#M4377965
We also have more tips on our Knowledge Base at: https://community.etsy.com/t5/art/tkb-p/10723tkb-board
3) What do you like the most? advice from more experienced sellers
Once you've reviewed the links from question 2, please let us know if you have any other questions
5) What is your biggest challenge and how can we help? Get sales going. Been near zero for a year.
What are you doing to invite people to your shop? Are you on social media?

On our "Forum" page at: https://community.etsy.com/t5/art/bd-p/10723 we have many games and activities designed to boost traffic and sales. For example you can share a Pin from your shop on a Pinterest game. A 100 members will re-pin your pin. The average person knows 600 friends and family. So, that increases the potention views of your item up to 60,000 people. Most of the time it's more modest numbers. But, it can help you go viral and get attention.
THANKS AGAIN and please let us know if you need anything or have any other questions.

Thanks for heading up this great group! I have two shops and have posted for both in the past. Yesterday my shop, ShopPoePoeKids, got noted for posting twice. OP1 year ago@AmySueCrafts Thanks for the suggestion.
Currently, we allow people to set their favorites to "private" because there were many shops that had good reason to do so. But, a lot has changed over the years. So, I'll do a little research. Ask a few Etsy colleagues about current policies. And see what the best practices are currently. THANKS AGAIN!

2) What could we do to make you feel more connected with others? How about an area just for talking, asking questions, helping each other with what works and what doesn't.
3) What do you like the most? clicking on other peoples links and seeing what they are making
4) What do you like the least? I can't think of a least here
5) What is your biggest challenge and how can we help? Just getting people to come to my store. I feel we are competing with mass sellers on Etsy and I can't compete with that.
6) What would encourage you to invite friends, family, and colleagues to the ARTteam? If I had friends, family or collegues that were "makers" I'd have no problem inviting them.
7) Is there anything that would make the ARTteam better? Reminding people how to play the game. Lately I'm seeing a lot of people not posting links but a message like "done" or "I'm here".

And a couple others for new members or very specific topics (ie. SEO)
5) What is your biggest challenge and how can we help? Just getting people to come to my store. I feel we are competing with mass sellers on Etsy and I can't compete with that.
It's can be difficult to grab people's attention. Knowing your shop, it seems like you could find a lot of customers who recently lost their local Joann's Fabrics. It's been a topic around Rochester NY because they dominated the yarn and fabric business here. Now, there's nothing. And lots of makers have been searching for materials.
7) Is there anything that would make the ARTteam better? Reminding people how to play the game. Lately I'm seeing a lot of people not posting links but a message like "done" or "I'm here".
You're 100% correct. And this is the top priority. Etsy banning me for a year allowed spammers to take over and lots of "bad habits" to develop. And lead to many activities dying from being overwhelmed by junk.
I've been spending the last month sending correction messages, removing posts, reporting spam, etc. And will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
Also, Etsy provides 0 tools for moderating bad behavior. So, please let Etsy know we need ways to protect our members at: community@etsy.com
THANKS AGAIN and I promise you we'll get this all fixed up!

It's been a slow comeback. I love how this team has grown! As you know my concern is getting the most out of pinterest at this point. Organic pins have proven to go way farther than the Etsy shared pins and repinning old pins seems to slow down shares where new pins increase shares. I'll always use a new pin when playing even if it is the same url...change the image or tweak title on the pin. Also I want to follow people and I can't find your boards with the shared pins from Etsy! More followers really help me get more views!
Everyone seems very kind and helpful on this team. I'm hoping to add more threads once my store is large enough.
Thank you Mike!

·1 year agoThank you Mike for the suggestions and adding the new activity. I will definitely participate! I love the "Making Season" and "Sales Seson" concept. I do the same. Try to make new items or make the items that tend to sell the most so I have some in inventory. Thank you again!

·1 year agoIt's really great to see you back Mike! I always checked for your return on the main board. This team has become my favorite.
1. I love the concept of this team. I look forward to the team activities and get such a good feeling about this team.
2. I think there is a great connection amongst teammates. Everyone seems to look out for each other and check on the ones who don't play fairly. And the teammates are loyal, most post everyday.
3. I love the activities. I think they all contribute to the increase of sales. I look forward to playing everyday. And again, I love how the team looks out for one another.
4. There isn't anything I don't like. I do think an ongoing incognito add to cart with at least 12 links would be a great addition though.
5. My biggest challenge is the off season. It's hard to sell when there aren't major holidays. But not much to be done about that.
6. I encourage everyone I know on Etsy. I have long pushed for this team.
7. There's really nothing that could make this team better. Between the teammates and leaders, it really is a special team. Billy @BeOrBe really stepped up while you were away and kept the team going. Many thanks for that! The only suggestion again would be adding an ongoing incognito add to cart with at least 12 links.
I'm so happy to be on this team!

OP1 year ago@Christmasation It's good to be back. And you've alway been so kind and helpful. And after a year of neglect by Etsy, I hope to clean up the ARTteam and refresh it a bit with some improvements.
4) I'll review the "incognito game." In fact, I'm reviewing all games right now. To see what's effective with Etsy's current algorithm, policies, and other platforms. So, watch for that addition soon!
5) Off seasons can be difficult. Personally, I thinking of them mostly as "sales season" and "making season." During "making season," my focus is on creating pieces. So, I'll spend 75% of my time painting and 25% time marketing and sales. That ratio is flipped during times when I make more sales in the "Sales Season."
7) THANK YOU for recognizing Billy @BeOrBe for stepping up. If it wasn't for their work, I believe the ARTteam would have been dead after my 1 year exile by Etsy. And I'll priotize reviewing the Incognito game. If you know of an example from another team, please share.
THANKS AGAIN!

Here's the new game you've suggested. Look it over and let me know if there should be any changes or adjustments. THANKS AGAIN!

·1 year ago1) purpose is commendable. I help anyone if I can
2) not sure how to "feel" more connected but being in a group is a start
3 & 4) not sure as I just found this group
5) my biggest challenge is generating sales, my sales have been dead since last April. When I first started it was great but now it has just died in the last year. Just sort of fell off all at once in April of 2024.
6) I would recommend it to anyone to help it grow and thrive
7) more members will def help to provide a more diverse range of ideas and innovation

OP1 year ago@ArlingtonGamingComp THANK YOU for your reply. This is very helpful. And we're so happy you're here.
5) What have you been doing successfully to invite customers to your shop? Have you noticed changes since then (less traffic, less comments/likes, etc)?
7) When you meet other shopkeepers, please feel free to invite them to the ARTteam. Making friends and supporting each other is what it is all about.
THANKS AGAIN

·1 year agoHooray! Welcome back, Mike!
I'm really grateful to be part of this group, it helps me feel less alone on my art journey. Even though my shop is growing super slowly, I’m thankful to still be here with all of you. Thanks so much for inviting me to join this group in the first place.

And we're so happy you're here. It's all about making friends and supporting each other.
Right now, I'm cleaning up the group. And fixing some of the issues Etsy allowed during my yearlong ban. But, we'll be making some updates soon. And they are designed to boost traffic and sales at your shop.
THANKS AGAIN!
