Update for sellers impacted by severe winter weather
Hi sellers,
Many of you are experiencing winter weather conditions that may have impacted your shop in the form of power outages, travel disruptions, or limited access to supplies. If you’ve already been affected (or may be in the coming days), please know we understand that getting orders out may not look like business as usual.
To help ease the weight of managing your shop during this time, we want to remind you of the actions Etsy takes during extreme weather events and share some suggestions for navigating in-progress orders. We look to official government sources (e.g. FEMA and declarations from heads of state) to determine where emergency situations have been declared and where Etsy sellers are experiencing prolonged disruptions to their business operations. We also keep track of where carriers are experiencing significant delays.
You won’t be penalized for delayed shipments
If you’re in an area where an emergency weather situation has been declared that causes shipping delays, your shop won’t be negatively affected.
We extend Star Seller badges
We temporarily adjust the program to support Star Sellers in impacted areas. For example, if you earned a Star Seller badge in December 2025, we will automatically grant you a badge for January 2026.
You can pause your shop temporarily
If you’re unable to work on new orders, consider pausing your shop. Your buyers won’t be able to view or purchase your items if your shop is paused. They’ll receive an auto-reply to Messages and can sign up to get a message when you return.
To pause your shop:
From your desktop computer: Go to Shop Manager and turn on Vacation Mode.
From the Etsy Seller app on a mobile device: Go to More > Settings > Shop Settings > Vacation Mode to turn it on.
You can also learn more about Vacation Mode and how to manage your shop in case of an emergency in our Help Center. If you have any other questions, please reach out to our support team—we’re here to help however we can.
Wishing you warmth and safe conditions in the days ahead. 🧡

·6 months ago@jamesossman Thanks for this! Can you please tell us how you are defining this? - "If you’re in an area that has been designated as impacted by a severe storm causing shipping delays to your deliveries"
In the past, Etsy has usually expressly limited this help to people in the US, even when the weather also affected Canadians. I'm encouraged by the fact you didn't say that this time, but some clarity would be very much appreciated!

Hi @cindylouwho2 ! Thanks for checking in. The team looks to national weather services and government entities to determine the weather's impact in areas where we have a large seller community. We also keep tabs on carriers around the world to understand if they are facing repeated, significant delays that impact our seller community.
