Etsy’s 2025 Trust & Safety highlights and our plans for 2026

Hi everyone, I'm Claudia Pfalzer, and I lead Etsy's Trust & Safety team. Today, I'm excited to share Etsy's 2025 Transparency Report , which highlights the progress we've made to help keep Etsy safe, trusted, and unique, plus a look at where we're investing next. Over the past year, we've continued to strengthen the policies, tools, and technologies that help protect our marketplace and support the creative entrepreneurs who make Etsy special. We also introduced several improvements designed to give sellers more visibility into our enforcement processes, including the new Policy Violations page in Shop Manager, expanded policy education resources, and listing-level appeals for Creativity Standards violations. As we look ahead to 2026, we're focused on three key areas: Strengthening our detection and enforcement systems to address emerging abuse trends and help maintain marketplace integrity. Expanding policy education and enforcement transparency so sellers have clearer information when actions are taken. Scaling listing-level appeals across more areas of our policy ecosystem. A few highlights from this year's report: We continued investing in technology, including LLM-based systems, to improve enforcement accuracy while supporting detection at scale. We expanded our efforts to identify and remove items that don't belong on Etsy, helping preserve a marketplace built on creativity, craftsmanship, and originality. We strengthened protections against spam, scams, counterfeit goods, and unsafe products through enhanced detection systems and collaboration with rights holders, regulators, and law enforcement. We continued investing in buyer and seller support to help resolve issues quickly and fairly. The work of maintaining a trusted marketplace is never complete, but we're committed to continually improving our policies, technology, and transparency so you can focus on what matters most: running your business and connecting with buyers. You can read my news blog post and find the full report here . - Claudia joined Etsy two years ago, and in her free time, she loves to go on hikes and visit the beach with her dog. Her creative outlet is oil painting, and she mostly creates abstracts on huge canvas. She just recently purchased a custom logo embosser from the PrintMint, which make the certificates of authenticity for her artwork look beautiful and professional.

UPDATED JUNE 9 - Navigating Evolving Global Tariff Policies

Hello Etsy Community, My name is James Ossman, and for the past year, I've had the privilege of serving as Vice President and General Manager for International at Etsy. I'm reaching out because like many of you, we are closely monitoring the latest developments regarding tariffs placed on goods that pass between the United States and Canada, China and Mexico. At this time, our teams are reviewing the official information coming in from the different governments and assessing what this means for the Etsy community. We will provide updates here as they are available. As always, we are committed to helping you comply with applicable regulations. Thank you for your patience as we work through these emerging changes. James Ossman, Vice President and General Manager, International at Etsy

Upcoming policy changes for orders shipped to the US

Hi there, I’m James, Vice President of Customer Operations at Etsy. I lead our global teams across customer support, trust and safety, and international operations to help ensure a safe, reliable experience for millions of buyers and sellers worldwide. Since 2025, changes to US import tariffs have made international selling more complex. If you ship orders to US buyers, you may have already adjusted how you handle duties, pricing, and delivery to manage rising costs and buyer expectations. We’re also seeing that when duties aren’t included in pricing upfront, buyers face unexpected fees after checkout. This can create a confusing experience, lead to delays at customs or refused deliveries, and result in additional costs, cases, or refunds. In a recent survey, nearly two-thirds of US Etsy buyers said they’d be unlikely to make a purchase if they had to pay tariffs at the time of delivery.* What’s changing To help create a more consistent and reliable experience, we’re updating our Seller House Rules for orders shipped to the US. Starting July 9, you'll be expected to account for all of your costs, including duties and import fees, to US buyers upfront in your pricing by using a Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) shipping option, so they pay the full cost of their order at checkout. Orders shipped without duties prepaid will no longer qualify for Etsy Purchase Protection. If buyers are charged tariffs or collection fees by the carrier, they’re eligible to be refunded and the charges will be deducted from the seller. Support and tools  We’re committed to helping you navigate these changes and continually investing in tools and services to make cross-border selling more manageable, including: Shipping partners to help you manage and ship orders all in one place, with the ability to estimate and prepay all tariffs and fees using DDP shipping options . By using a DDP option, you can present a tariff-inclusive price on Etsy, eliminating surprises for the buyer upon delivery. Pricing tools to set different listing prices for domestic, US, and international buyers . This helps your listing prices reflect your shipping costs and support your margins while staying competitive in each market.  A new US tariffs estimator you can use in Shop Manager when creating or editing your listings to help estimate tariffs, compare shipping options, and complete customs forms with ease. We understand this shift may take time as you adjust your workflow, and we’ll continue to invest in tools and guidance to help you continue selling globally with confidence. To learn more about these updates, including shipping partners offering Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) options, read the full details in the Seller Handbook . You can also find a record of ongoing tariff-related updates in this thread . Thank you for being part of our global marketplace. -- James has been at Etsy for over 11 years and leads our Customer Operations team. His most recent Etsy purchase was custom letter press stationary for his sister's birthday. Have feedback on this change? Share your thoughts with our team through this brief survey . See updates to our Seller Policy , Off-Platform Transactions policy , Cases policy , Shipping policy and Etsy Purchase Protection Program for Sellers .  *Based on a survey of 833 US buyers conducted in July 2025.

New targeted offer for interested shoppers

Hi everyone, We’re introducing a new targeted offer to help you reach more interested shoppers earlier in their buying journey . On average, sellers using this offer can reach 2x more potential buyers than with other targeted offers alone.* You can set up this interested shopper offer to automatically send discounts to eligible shoppers showing interest in your listings. Etsy determines interested shoppers by using a number of factors, including how often and how recently they’ve viewed your listings. Because these shoppers are already considering your items, a timely offer can help encourage purchases without having to run a shop-wide sale. To get started, head to your sales and discounts page in Shop Manager, or visit the Help Center to learn more about targeted offers. *Based on an internal analysis of Etsy visitor data across all platforms (app, mobile web, and desktop) from March 18–April 17, 2026. -- Isabella is part of Etsy’s Community Team, where she focuses on connecting sellers and creating programs that support their growth and success. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring local antique shops and vintage markets. Her most recent Etsy purchase, a vintage mallard duck ceramic valet box , fits right in with her growing collection of secondhand treasures.

New in Etsy Ads: set a strategy for each listing

Hi everyone, We've been working on new ways to give you more control over how you advertise on Etsy, and we're excited to introduce listing strategies, a much-awaited update to Etsy Ads. If you have a daily ads budget of $25 or more, you may be familiar with campaign strategy —the goal you set for your entire campaign. Listing strategies take that same idea to each listing, so you can guide how your budget is put to work based on the goals for each one. Same simplicity, more control where you want it. Choose from three strategies Greater visibility: Prioritizes reach. Great for top performers or key shopping moments  (like the holidays!) Lower click cost: Guides the system toward lower-cost clicks. Useful for listings with thinner margins or limited inventory. Efficient spending: A balanced approach that works well as a default for most listings. Your current campaign strategy is already applied to all your listings as a starting point. Nothing changes until you update.  Where to find it To get started, visit your Etsy Ads dashboard. In the listings section, you can view performance and update the strategy for any listing at any time. Note: The listing strategies feature is available to sellers using Etsy Ads daily with a daily budget of $25 or more. To learn more, check out our Seller Handbook article Get More Control Over How You Advertise on Etsy .

Celebrate Being Human: The Story Behind Etsy’s New Brand Campaign

Hi sellers,  Last week we launched Etsy’s newest brand campaign, Celebrate Being Human. At its core, this campaign is about something we believe deeply at Etsy, which is that the most human moments in life deserve celebrating. For years, ecommerce has been optimized for speed, convenience and sameness. But what we’re seeing is a growing desire for more connection, more individuality and more meaning in the things we buy for ourselves and gift to others. This campaign celebrates the wonderfully human moments that shape our lives. The milestones, but also the “ministones” like the fresh starts, the heartbreak, recoveries and the celebrations that don’t always fit neatly into a traditional occasion. The ad counts out a human life through moments both big and small. And throughout all of them, Etsy sellers are there as the people helping others celebrate. That’s what makes Etsy different. In a world that increasingly feels automated and impersonal, Etsy remains rooted in something deeply human: real people making meaningful things for other real people. Thank you for helping make Etsy a place people come to mark the moments that matter most. You can read more about the campaign in our latest blog post . – Brad

Simplify personalized orders with new personalization fields

Hey everyone,  Today, we’re excited to share the launch of our new personalization fields. Offering personalized orders is all about crafting meaningful items that make lasting memories for your buyers, but we know that getting those details from buyers can be challenging.  With the new personalization fields, you can add up to five fields per listing to capture text, options, and file uploads to help streamline personalized orders even more.  Built with feedback from our seller community, these fields help you capture clearer, more complete order details upfront. And sellers are already seeing the impact: Listings with new personalization fields help move orders from purchase to shipment faster, so you can stay on track without extra follow-ups.* To get started, add one or two fields to a listing and start collecting the details you need right away.  Go to Listings in Shop Manager to get started, or check out this Help Center article for more information.  We’re continuing to invest in item options, including a new third variation option,  easier ways to update multiple listings, and support in the Etsy Seller app. We’ll keep you updated as these features roll out. *Based on data from Etsy’s beta program between August 2025 and April 2026, comparing listings with and without new personalization fields. Results may vary by listing and shop.

Updates to our Children and Baby Products policy

Hi sellers, My name is Claudia and I lead Etsy’s Trust & Safety team. Today I’m sharing an update to Etsy’s Children and Baby Products policy, effective June 2, 2026. We’re always working hard to keep Etsy a safe and trusted marketplace. One of the many ways we do this is by regularly reviewing and updating our policies to help protect the safety of our community, provide clearer, more consistent guidance for sellers, and keep pace with evolving industry standards. As part of this, we’re making updates to our House Rules to strengthen our approach to safety and clarify which children’s products are not allowed on Etsy. Here’s what’s being updated: Clearer restrictions on products with small parts that may pose choking or ingestion risks Updated examples of prohibited infant sleep furniture and accessories Additional examples of prohibited items, such as infant neck flotation devices Safety guidance for children’s apparel and related items For full details, please review our updated House Rules . You can also find educational resources for listing children and baby products in our Seller Handbook guide .

Regulatory Operating Fee updates for some markets

Hi sellers, Over the past few years, we’ve introduced Regulatory Operating Fees in some countries to help cover the rising costs of operating under local government regulations. These fees are set by country and reviewed each year to reflect the cost of doing business in each region, including local laws, taxes, and compliance requirements, so we can continue supporting sellers worldwide. Today, we’re following up with upcoming changes for certain countries.  Starting on June 22, 2026: France: The Regulatory Operating Fee will increase from 0.47% to 1.14%. Hungary: A new Regulatory Operating Fee of 1.97% will apply. India: The Regulatory Operating Fee will decrease from 0.29% to 0.05%. Italy: The Regulatory Operating Fee will increase from 0.32% to 0.80%. Spain: The Regulatory Operating Fee will increase from 0.72% to 0.88%. Türkiye: The Regulatory Operating Fee will decrease from 2.27% to 1.67%. UK: The Regulatory Operating Fee will increase from 0.32% to 0.48%. We’ll continue reviewing these fees across markets to help keep pricing aligned to meeting local requirements. Learn more in our Help Center . Thank you for being part of the Etsy community.

Pricing Transparency in the UK Under the DMCC Act

Hi sellers,  We want to let you know about an important update related to the UK’s Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act (DMCC Act) that requires businesses to clearly show the total price a customer in the UK must pay upfront, throughout the purchase journey. This new requirement means mandatory costs, such as shipping or other required fees can’t be introduced later in the purchase process.  To help Etsy sellers comply with the DMCC Act - and to provide greater price transparency to buyers - Etsy will begin displaying a combined total price that includes the item price and VAT-inclusive shipping price to UK buyers. This helps ensure they don’t encounter unexpected, non-optional charges once they reach checkout. Buyers in the UK will see this total price displayed along their purchase journey, including when viewing a listing. Occasionally, the final  total may update at checkout if delivery details change or if items qualify for combined shipping. If this happens, buyers will always see the updated final price before the purchase is complete. You may have already noticed this change. While the way prices are displayed is different, the total amount a buyer pays has not changed.  We understand this is a meaningful change and that it can make a listing's price look higher at first glance. We appreciate your partnership as we implement this required update. We are closely tracking your feedback as we continue to optimize this new experience. For more details, please review this article from our Help Center .

Find an Etsy Team based on your interests, location, or creative niche

Hi there, My name is Abby, and I’m part of Etsy’s Community Team. We’re here to help you connect with other sellers and access the resources you need to thrive on Etsy. One of my favorite parts of the new Community Hub is the Etsy Teams space–it’s where so much Etsy magic happens by connecting sellers who share a common interest, location, or creative niche!  Etsy Teams are groups of sellers who come together virtually or IRL to support one another and their shop goals. Some connect members who live nearby, while others sell similar products, or have shared interests like photography, marketing, or vintage finds. By joining an Etsy Team, you’ll gain access to advice, inspiration, and community from people like you, who understand the seller journey.  You can read more about our recent updates to Etsy Team here . Head to the Teams page to discover groups by location, category, or topic. If you’re interested in leading an Etsy Team of your own, you can apply to create a new Team and become a Team Captain here !

      Updates to Etsy Purchase Protection

Hi there, I’m James, Vice President of Customer Operations at Etsy. I lead our global teams across customer support, trust and safety, and international operations to help ensure a safe, reliable experience for millions of buyers and sellers worldwide. I wanted to share some updates to Etsy Purchase Protection—many of which were shaped by seller feedback. Etsy Purchase Protection is designed to support sellers when issues happen that are outside of your control—like when an order doesn’t arrive or arrives damaged despite being packaged securely. Since launching in 2022, the program has supported 294,000 sellers around the world across more than 1.4 million orders worldwide. Starting May 7 , we’re introducing updates to give you clearer expectations about how the program works, while improving how we support you when issues come up. Here’s a quick overview of what’s changing: Expanded coverage for higher-value orders Etsy Purchase Protection may now cover buyer refunds of up to $250 USD per eligible order , even when the total order value is higher than $250. Clearer eligibility expectations To qualify for coverage, sellers will need to meet Etsy’s minimum customer service standards and respond to Help with Order messages within 48 hours . As a reminder, you’ll still need to ship orders on time and provide tracking when available. Etsy may also use carrier tracking scans, in addition to sellers marking the order as shipped and uploading valid tracking, to confirm that an order was shipped on time. More human review for complex cases We’re expanding the number of people reviewing cases to help ensure complex situations are evaluated fairly for both buyers and sellers. Shorter case window for buyers Buyers can now only open a case up to 30 days after the estimated delivery date , making it easier to gather important details—like carrier information—while they’re still available to help quickly resolve a case. Clearer late delivery definition An order is considered late if it arrives 7 or more days after the estimated delivery date . This buffer helps account for carrier delays outside your control. If you’d like to learn more about these updates—including how the $250 coverage works and what’s required for eligibility—you can read the full details in the Seller Handbook . Thanks for taking the time to review these updates, and as always, we appreciate everything you do to create great experiences for buyers. James has been at Etsy for over 10 years and leads our Customer Operations team. Outside of work, he’s likely on a run around Queens or spending time with his daughters. Right now, he’s shopping on Etsy for unique home decor to bring his latest renovation to life. Have feedback on this change? Share your thoughts with our team through this brief survey .
