Hi Etsy community, this isn't a technical issue, but rather an idea for the tech team! As the seller, I would love to have the ability to choose a suggested review to highlight, and to be able to select a review that was automatically suggested and say this is really not something I want to highlight and have it stay in my recent reviews instead of suggested. Sometimes it will be a review that really just warms my heart or even makes my eyes water that I would love to highlight. And sometimes a really sweet 5-star-review ends up suggested even though it doesn't accurately reflect my product or process that I would love to not highlight. In these cases, correcting the buyer in a public response is not always appropriate or kind. Even if I could select one review to highlight or one review to bump to recent of every so many that would be so helpful.
You can screen shot your great product reviews and put them in a few of your photo slots for that product.

Thank you so much for your response! This is a great idea for sharing testimonials of specific products! My idea for the tech team is for whole shop reviews when you click on the review page, rather than a specific product.
They can be highlighted in the shop banner too. I put one on my banner to fill a little space. lol
Love this idea!
It seems like they only do things that they think will make Etsy more money.
I remember when 1-star reviews were pushed to the top = highlighted. Etsy usually knows what's best for us, so I doubt we'd get to choose that "really sweet 5-star-review."
When I mentioned, that "really sweet 5-star-review" I was referring to ones you would not want to highlight because they don't accurately reflect your product or process, even though they are super nice.
In the US, websites are supposed to follow FTC guidelines regarding reviews.

Absolutely, and reading this thoroughly, I believe my idea would follow these FTC guidelines.

Governments take a dim view of manipulating reviews to make things look better - ie highlighting good ones
Etsy won't do it
Oh no, I'm not referring to manipulating reviews! I'm referring to suggested reviews, which we already have. In any shop, you can see dropdown with suggested that you can change to most recent. I also don't believe highlighting good reviews is manipulating, as highlighting a review is really just choosing one to be a testimonial for your brand.
situations like this can be easy to manipulate, just look at the new shops that open, they sell to a family member or friend ("unknowingly" not knowing about shilling), the "buyer" leaves an amazing review that coincidentally seems to hit all the right bullet points and that will be the review the seller will pin to the top.

governments disagree
...
buyers selecting to see 5 * first, or choosing to see most recent themselves, is different from the seller pushing just the good ones
No, it can't work. You could have a shop full of bad reviews and one good one that you pin to the top!
Your overall score of 1 to 5 stars for your shop and reviews on the specific item play a role in purchase decision as well.
Thanks for explaining this!
